Day/Theme: Sept. 21 'shed blood becomes a sea'

Summary: AU. Long Haul and Bonecrusher overhear a few things in the bar about the latest gladiatorial champion out of Tarn.

"... And presenting the new champion from Tarn- Megatron!"
Bonecrusher turned sharply to look at the screen behind the bar, jogging Long Haul's elbow. The transport grumbled as some of his drink sloshed into his lap, but he'd caught the name too.
There on the screen was the rebuilt femme they'd worked on, as she stepped into the gladiatorial arena in all her glory. Like she'd wanted, she was still a tank, but built along masculine lines. Scrapper had shifted the painfully overcompensating hip-cannon to partially disassemble in her robot-mode; most of it was on her back, but there was a working fusion cannon mounted on her right arm.
"Look at him," A jet breathed, his shining optics focussed on the screen. "He's magnificient."
"Certainly damn good in the arena," his build-twin friend said. "I've never seen anyone like him."
A car growled, "Yeah, he fraggin' maims his opponents. That's pretty novel. Don't you tin-plated twitterpates know a loose cannon when you see one?" He settled back against the bar, cube in one hand. "Besides, our Optimus will thrash him at the State Games."
"Yeah, right, and the Liege Maximo will return in all his splendor to crown the victor," jeered the second jet. "Your Optimus is service-build! Megatron's pure war-build!"
Bonecrusher kept an audial on the brewing fight, a grin tugging at his mouth. But there was something about all this that bothered him, and he muttered a question to Long Haul. "Why'd he go for gladiator? Thought he'd join the system defence force."
"Pays better to be a gladiator," Long Haul answered. "More attention, too. You think someone like he-im, with an ego like that, could stand to be under anyone's command? He almost lost it on Hook a few times."
"I almost lose it on Hook now and then."
Long Haul chuckled. "Yeah, but you don't try to change the world if it doesn't suit your whims. You just buckle down and deal with it."
Bonecrusher mulled that over and took a long draught from his cube. "... Scrapper's really taken with him."
"Yeah."
"Says he's a pretty good rebuild, and that only a technician as good as Scrapper is will be able to tell." And in Scrapper-speak that was pretty high boasting.
"Yeah."
Behind them, metal clanged against metal as someone finally threw a punch. Bonecrusher grinned at Long Haul and chugged down his drink; he didn't want to miss the fight!
