The Secret Service would scream bloody murder about him throwing open the windows to the night air and letting the moonlight in, but the Secret Service lacked any flair for the dramatic. He'd spent all day redecorating Megara's bedroom, and he wasn't going to have his efforts ruined by some unimaginitive monkeys.

Stuart turned and surveyed his work. The carpet he'd had to work around, but he'd redone the bed with white silk sheets and soft silvery blankets. The curtains had also been replaced with a light silver cloth, threaded through with metallic thread. He'd removed most of the art and brought in pieces almost reminiscent of Cybertronian designs. There weren't too many of those that he liked, so he'd supplemented them with battle paintings.

There was something missing... Ah, yes! The roses!

With a far too pleased grin, he picked up one of the bouquets of pink roses and began to tear the petals off and scatter them over the sheets. The headless stems got stuck back into the vase. There!

He checked his watch; Megara should be returning in half an hour from her flight. Likely all tuckered out, but at least she was in the middle of her cycle and not yet prone to bleeding and throwing things at him.

And now to kick back and wait for her to come to bed.

When Megara came up, he'd nearly thrown himself out of the window twice from boredom, terrorized the staff into giving him a really terrible thriller to read, and set said thriller on fire in the bathtub. That did not stop him from lounging nakedly in her bed when she opened the door.

She raised an eyebrow. "Getting bored, I see."

"The Vice-Presidency is the most useless job in the nation," he informed her haughtily.

She crossed over to her wardrobe, stripping off her suit jacket as she went. "Why the roses, Stuart?"

"Why, it's our anniversary, dearest," he said and smiled to see her back tense at the edge of malice in his voice. "And every rose has its thorns."
