Ozai's a really interesting character to write, to me. Especially in relationship to early season three Zuko - while Zuko is grappling with his loyalties and morals, Ozai finally has a son that he feels affection for.

Of course, since Ozai's love of his children is contingent on their being what he wants them to be, Zuko's defiance in "Day of Black Sun" goes over like a lead balloon.
