Advent #7: Square Root of Negative One

Title: Square Root of Negative One
Fandom: Transformers: Void
Characters: Sideways, Jetstorm
Rating: PG-13
Classification: Dark gen

---

"Adjust your optics up i cycles. That should help you see what is below the surface." Sideways crouched over a captured Autobot who was laid open to the laser-core. The Autobot scientist had stopped screaming less than an hour ago, but Sideways knew he'd start up again when he turned his attention to that red scope. For now, though, he let the Autobot rest while he rearranged the scientist's internal wiring.

"That makes no sense." Jetstorm stood in mid-air, dispassionately watching Sideways work. The fact that the Delorean's victims used to be one of his friends didn't matter. There was a gulf between Jetstorm and Silverbolt that could never be fully crossed.

"Everything makes sense. It all depends on your point-of-view." Sideways drew his vibro-blade and turned it on. "Besides, if you don't learn to do this, you'll kill Fireflight when the time comes."

The thrum of Jetstorm's engines grew more noticeable. "You cannot adjust your optics to an imaginary frequency."

"Sure you can." Sideways smiled. "Now, he can't," the Delorean said as he reached in and yanked a handful of tender wires, not quite disconnecting them. "But you can, Jetstorm. You're Chaos-forged."

Jetstorm didn't answer, his engines still thrumming darkly.

Sideways glanced up at him briefly, and the symbols on his door-wings smiled at the sight of the jet's optics flickering wildly. He knew Jetstorm would figure it out; the jet so desperately wanted to save his brothers.

A root of the characteristic equation. >_>

I am now lost in the lands of "science beyond the basics". Maybe if you were talking chemistry, and I hadn't repressed most of that.
