Choose Your Own Adventure: Prowl
This is the fault of dzchat. If you think this is awesome, you may thank them. If you think this sucks, you may blame me for giving into peer pressure.
The way this is going to work is I am going to write an opening piece, then close it with some options. Each option can be chosen only once. I will write some more, then provide some more options. It should spiral out from there.
I imagine after a while this will get very unwieldy. I don't think this can be helped.
Also, please be aware that I am making this up as I go along. Additionally, it's not a true Choose-Your-Own-Adventure, unless at least a couple of options lead to your horrible death. Or you turning evil.
Prowl's day starts out very ordinary, but with Megatron implementing his latest plot, things could go very wrong for our favorite Datsun! How does he survive and, more importantly, get back to his one true love for their hot date tonight?
Beautiful Logic Strings
In the Autobot lounge (not, incidentally, the one the Aerialbots had claimed as their territory and decorated with jet-porn pinups), Prowl snagged a cup of energon. Retreating quickly before the minibots descended on the energon dispensor, he sat down in the corner with a datapad full of this week's reports.
Five reports of thefts by Stunticons had been reported last week. To his intense regret, neither he nor Smokescreen had been able to catch up with them before they vanished with their prizes. Knowing full well he couldn't do anything useful with the data, he had passed the reports on to Perceptor and Wheeljack. Now they had tendered their own report...
He had also dispatched the Aerialbots to keep a close eye on the Decepticons. Silverbolt delivered constant reports, though Prowl sometimes suspected Silverbolt was delegating report-writing to the other Aerialbots as a form of punishment. He wasn't certain whom was intended to be punished, but the Datsun thought he definitely was being punished by this practice.
Of course, there were also a lot of miscellaneous reports. Activity on Cybertron, Dinobot scuffles, Lamborghini scuffles, Red Alert bitching about Sideswipe bothering him about where his twin was...
Hmm. Prowl took a long sip from his energon and read over Perceptor's report. If this were correct... He needed to talk to Silverbolt right away.
"New reports, Prowl?" Jazz slid into the seat opposite him with a grin. "Got some tidbits you might want to hear."

//Silverbolt, this is Prowl. I need one of your teammates to scout the space-bridge. If Perceptor is correct, then Megatron may use the stolen devices to create a solar flux siphon.//
//Got it. I'll go myself. Anything in particular I should be looking for?//
//Just look for anything unusual and report back immediately.//
//Roger. ETA: fifteen minutes.//
Prowl closed the connection, then took a measured sip of energon. If Megatron held to his usual pattern, this could go very unpleasantly. They might want the Protectobots at the ready for immediate deployment.
- Damn. Wasn't Trailbreaker planning an outing today? If the minibots and their off-road types were off gallivanting around Canada, he'd have to face Megatron with the Lamborghinis, Tracks, Smokescreen, and Bluestreak. Of course, he would have the Dinobots in reserve...
Dear Prime.
Think cheerful thoughts, he told himself. You have a date tonight if you manage to survive the rest of the day. Just manage that.

"In a moment, Jazz." He noted the slight uptilt of Jazz's head with a sense of annoyance. At least it wasn't as obvious as a human eye-roll, but this was slightly more important than anything Jazz had to say or Jazz would be interrupting.
//Trailbreaker.//
//Hey, Prowl. You coming out with us today? Hound and I think we can find some real fun in the national park, and-//
//No, I'm afraid not, Trailbreaker.// Prowl interrupted smoothly. //Is there any way you can reschedule your trip? Intelligence suggests Megatron may make his move very soon now.//
A moment of silence, the comm-connection damping down as Prowl was effectively put on hold. Then Trailbreaker came back. //Yeah, sure. Just let me pass the word onto the others. You know I try to make these things pretty flexible.//
//Yes, I do. It doesn't hurt to be polite about needing to put you on-call, though.//
Trailbreaker chuckled and gently closed the connection.

Receive comm from Silverbolt?
If you've already finished reading reports, report to Optimus Prime about increased activity in the Acid Wastes?

If you have previously commed Silverbolt, you may not choose the 'comm Silverbolt' option but may 'receive comm from Silverbolt'.

Jazz grinned. "I'll keep the gossip to a minimum. Cross my heart." He sketched an X over his left headlight, before leaning forward. "You've seen Perceptor's report, right? Well, Tracks mentioned to me that Smokescreen mentioned to him that there's a lot of activity in the oil futures market right now. People generally considered in the know are grabbing up a good deal.
"Suggests to me that someone doesn't expect whatever Megatron is planning to actually work. Which means we're back to raids on oil refineries. Lower supplies, more money to buy them in the future, good market to pick up oil futures today."
"Hmm..." Prowl sketched out several lines as he mulled over this information. "I'll have to think about this. Thank you, Jazz."
"Anytime. So, whatcha got planned for the date tonight?"

Tell Jazz off for asking, since it's none of his business.

I would go straight for the Silverbolt comm thing, but my knee-jerk anti-PJ instincts kicked in. >_>

Jazz shrugged. "Suit yourself. Whatcha got planned for the date tonight?"
"I have reports to read, Jazz. There will undoubtedly be a major spate of Decepticon activity very soon, and I need to plan for it."
"So, you haven't actually planned anything."
Visions of tying up Jazz and leaving him in Sideswipe's room with a note giving his tacit blessing for any pranks that might effect the Porsche briefly filled Prowl's head. "Reports."
"Right, right. See ya around, Prowl." With a grin, the black-and-white Porsche stood up and sauntered over to the energon dispenser.
Finally alone, Prowl took a calming sip of energon and settled in to read his reports. Discipline reports involving Aerialbots were down this week... Unsurprising, all things considered. Hard to get into trouble when you're scouting the Decepticons.
Well, at least it was hard to get into disciple-report-types of trouble.
Discipline reports involving Blades and/or Dinobots were still at their normal levels. Discipline reports involving Sideswipe had a slight dip from when Sunstreaker threw him into the brig for using all of his polish.
Red Alert's bitching about Sideswipe unfortunately had to be read in full, as the Security Commander had the slight tendency to put surprises in there to make sure Prowl was reading them. As he had this time. NO, Inferno couldn't have more enerpudding mix, damn it.
And now, finally, the Cybertron activity reports. Written by Chromia if he was any judge, and oh yes, thank you so very, very much, Elita, for giving the job to someone competent and not Fireflight or Moonracer. He supposed kissing the pink female's tires in gratitude would go over very poorly with the Prime, but Chromia-written reports were almost worth it.
If he were a lesser mech, he might have felt betrayed at her report of vastly increased activity in the Acid Wastes, especially near the ruins of Yuss.

There was a brief pause before the Security Director answered. Prowl used the time to shuffle through his encryption codes. It always made Red Alert happier if he made their conversations difficult to hack. //Yes, Prowl?//
//Your enerpudding request is denied.//
//Why?//
Prowl frowned. //What do you mean 'why'? Need I remind you that the last time left Jazz babbling for days about using it as a lubricant? Traumatizing our special ops head is not allowable to be repeated. And let's not even talk about the time before that when Inferno tried to make an enerpudding flambe.//
//Oh, all right then.//
Prowl's optics dimmed at the oh-so innocent tone Red Alert used. What had the Security Chief just done...? //Were you testing me to see if I was a doppelganger?//
//No, no, not at all!//
//Red Alert... //
//It's something that needs to be done now and then.//
//As long as none of the others realize what's going on.//
Red Alert snorted. //Please. You were the last one I checked. Now if there's nothing else...?//
//Nothing.//
The connection closed, leaving Prowl alone with his reports. One less chore to take care of between now and his date, at least.
