Pirates and Orcs, Oh My!
I went out this evening to enjoy being out and about and doing things. Also, to get some groceries since we were almost out of food. That really puts a dampener on things, you know?
Swung my Toys'R'Us first to check on their selection. Since I've last been there, they apparently got a glut of Transformer toys. The shelves were impressively full and brimming with stock, including Cannonball. Being the squeally little fangirl I am, I picked him up. Also started longingly at Metroplex and Primus, but at $40 a pop, they're set aside for Christmas, having a steady income post-D*C, or gifts.
Next stop was bonnie Barnes and Noble, where I find a copy of "Grunts!". Nothing like the thought of orcs with weapons to make me happy. I spotted a novelization of Snakes on a Plane, searched high and low for an adult-level novelization of Pirates of the Caribbean 2, scanned through the movie storybook for PotC2 (and discovered the name of the guy who's grown into the ship *waves at Wyvern*), and kept misreading Dan Brown's "Deception Point" as Decepticon Point.
Then it was down to the grocery store and back home, where I discovered that my friends like to feed me Internet crack. Mmmm...
Back to pondering my Astrotrain ficathon fic. I've got a concept, now I need to hash out the plot details.

Same here. The only clue I've found is to look on IMDB and try to match names to faces.

This works better than making up Transformers-style names like Ripsaw. I may go with randomly choosing ethnic names from historical sea-going cultures when I need to name the crew.

On that note, Wyvern may not be a typical human name, but it is used reasonably often in medieval heraldry. You could make an argument that Wyvern was from a house that used the wyvern in their heraldry long, long ago.

Mmm, I like that. Maybe he's got some identifying belt buckle or pendent with a Wyvern on it.
