It's stuff like this that makes me afraid to post any fanfic-related rants on "fanficrants". That and the fact that it seems like every time I go on there to rant about getting squicked by seeing something that I liked slashed, I seem to get jumped on by nutjobs telling me I'm an idiot for not liking that pairing.

I avoid talking about things there that squick me, unless I'm absolutely sure it's going to squick a lot of other people there. Don't really post there much at all, just read a lot.

I don't think I would have had a problem with this person if she had said anything other than what she did. But I do find it hugely insulting to say that unless something is canon slash, then it's OOC. This may be true, but it's in the same vein of "all fanfiction is OOC!", which also irritates me.

And frankly, if she hadn't gone so blazingly defensive so fast, I would have just walked away.

I guess a lot of slash writers are just tired of people telling them they're nasty and wrong for writing slash. So they tend to get defensive when people complain about slashing certain characters being bad and wrong. Personally, I wish there would just be more "your kink is not my kink" going around.
