Arrrr! -- Friday ETA and Saturday

But first...

Towards the end of Evening at Bree, a very hot man joined the dancers. I noted this because not only did he have awesome dreadlocks, he took his shirt off. (Puck, though, only managed to get her camera to keep one picture of him. Sad.)

Anyways, after Evening at Bree, there was going to be a drum circle. He'd shown up for the drum circle, apparently. At the end of Bree, when people were leaving and the band was getting their stuff together, another guy got out his drum to do a few beats on. That attracted my attention, of course, because I love music and I was heading past him to the door anyway.

Hot, shirtless guy gets his drum and asks the guy to repeat those beats again, and he adds his own rhythm to the sound. His drum was a really deep one, and when the drummer from Emerald Rose joined in, it was just wow. So wonderful. I had a hard getting away to go find Fusillade.

Saturday

I slept till about ten in the morning and only got up that early because Ryuu wanted to go to a Battlestar Galactica panel and meet [livejournal.com profile] lyssie and [livejournal.com profile] nique (who will henceforth be referred to as Timey). I just said hi and then faffed off to find Puck. Sharon stayed for the panel, and I didn't see them again for quite a while.

On the way to the BSG panel and from breakfast with Sharon, we saw some people dressed up as contestants on the old Nickledeon game show, Legends of the Hidden Temple. I squeed.

Puck was eating breakfast/lunch at a diner near the local Days Inn, and I joined her. Didn't eat, but I got to hear some very interesting music on her CD player, and she got to hear some stuff on the iPod I had with me. After breakfast, we headed out to the dealer's room to check for awesome stuff.

And, of course, there was awesome stuff. Was there any other possibility? I got a forehead protector to go with my Hidden Sand gloves, two Naruto posters, a Rock Lee figurine, a set of three-inch Naruto keychains (by the way, Monoko, do you want the Orochimaru one?), and an audiobook of the first Dresden Files book, Storm Front. Puck showed me the one she got, and the whole "read by James Marsters" thing made me extremely interested.

We generally enjoyed the awesome shinies, spanglies, and general cool stuff on sale, but kept our buying down. Me, I was running out of money fast, since I hadn't been able to get to a bank before I got to D*C, and ATMs still fail me since I can never remember my PIN number. Picked up two t-shirts. "Chicks dig giant robots" (Puck egged me on, but y'all knew I'd get it anyway, right?) and a pimpin' Decepticon logo shirt. Which there's not a good picture of around that I can find, but if you look at Fusi's pictures, it's the blue shirt I'm wearing in some of them.

Wandered over to the Hilton to drop stuff in Puck's room and then headed down to the exhibitor's hall where we also greatly enjoyed the cool things available for sale. I also got Cliff Simon's (Ba'al on Stargate SG-1) autograph, though, as usual, I had no idea what to say to him.

Puck had to go after that, and I wandered over to the Stargate Jeopardy panel. In theory, I was looking for Fusillade, but I also just wanted to take a break from all the other people around. 'Twas an interesting panel; funly designed game, if too trivia-intense for a more casual viewer like me. But I enjoyed it, and it was quiet.

At some point in time, I found Sharon, Lyssie, and Timey again. We all went to the big Stargate panel where most of the Stargate actors at the con answered questions for the audience. It was in the Centeniell ballroom, so big-big dark room, and it was jam-packed.

While the coordinators were setting up, the two projection screens they had showed stuff from Dragon*Con TV, which was tons of fun. They like to do that thing Adult*Swim does with the text screens, such as letters and responses. They had some good stuff up there.

The panel was a lot of fun in and of itself. Don S. Davis (General Hammond) could be a dirty old man, Cliff Simon was a lot of fun and had a lovely voice, and Rachel Luttrell and Tori Higginson (Teyla and Elizabeth Weir) were very adorable with each other. It makes me wish for Teyla and Elizabeth fluff.

We got to hear a good bit about the proposed new Stargate movies, which was interesting. I more enjoyed the fan questions, since they could be totally off-the-wall. Someone even brought up slash fanfiction; apparently Cliff Simon has seen some of it. He is a bit puzzled by Ba'al/Jack/Daniel. (Also, apparently Don was turninng red all through that part of the discussion.)

After the panel, Lys, Timey, and Ryuu went back to our hotel to hit up the hot tub. I found Puck somewhere and the two of us eventually wound up at my hotel, dropping the swag I'd stashed in her room earlier off in my own room. We met up with the other three ladies, and and the five of us had dinner in the foodcourt. (Chinese, for those who are interested.) Afterwards, it was back down in among the panel rooms. I wanted to check the Stargate fanmixer, still looking for Fusi. Didn't find her, but we got to sign the big "thank you!" banner that the track coordinators had made to present to the SG actors. Ryuu talked to people, while I retreated into my shell with Puck.

We left eventually; Lys and Timey wanted to go to the Ghost in the Shell panel, Ryuu headed off to the Needcoffee.com film festival, and Puck and I decided to kill time until the 1am hentai panel on the Anime track. The two of us wound up at one of the video rooms just in time for the start of PotC1. (Arrrr!)

Of course we stayed. Especially since the crewe sponsoring this let us treat it to a Rocky Horror/MST3K thing. (And handed out Granny Smith apples. Mmmm. I ate mine early and made sad eyes at Puck's apple until she ate it herself.) Puck's friend Adam joined us for that, and the audience gave us some good lines. Hopefully they'll do this again next year. Or use PotC2. (Arrr!)

That gave us half an hour before the anime panel, and we hung out in the hall outside the room. Talked to various people, but the room was spinning for Puck. She ended up sitting outside in the hall, while I watched the first half-hour of hentai and played the tails with the fox-boys in front of me. (They had very nice tails, too.)

After that, it was way too late, and I wound up crashing with Puck for the night.
