Somehow, the plan changed from 'go to Ba Sing Se and start a new life' to 'take the earthbending lizard and stomp on the Fire Nation'. Smellerbee blamed Terror of the Fire Nation for it for some insane reason.

Jet figured she still hadn't come around to how awesome Terror of the Fire Nation was, and she'd get over it. (He'd long ago learned never to suggest it was her monthly courses.)

Skyhammer wondered about Nova. The white car fit so easily among the Decepticons, like he'd been built for them rather than for the Autobots. Like he'd been built for Skyhammer.

He wondered sometimes, if Nova was an Autobot spy. If he was, then that would explain....

(Dirtball nuzzling the back of Nova's neck, Nova's hand lingering on Dirtball's barrel, that sparkle in Nova's guileless blue optics when Skyhammer left him alone for weeks.)

That would explain a lot of things.
