Stargate SG-1: Four Dragons by Diana Dru Botsford
- His Own Marking Cord by Jedi Buttercup: And was that not the true measure of a god: that his name and his legacy be endlessly renewed and honored?

"Four Dragons" pretty much hit all my plot points on the goa'uld and System Lord Yu, then threw in a whole batch of awesome. I've been looking for someone to discuss/squee with ever since, so opening up my Yuletide to find I had this? Swoon, bb.

Foxtrot/Calvin & Hobbes
- The Roommate of +10 Confusion by Grevling: There must be some scientifically sound way for Jason Fox to be able to quantify his new college roommate, but he hasn't found one yet that fits. Especially when he factors in the stuffed tiger.

Jason Fox and Calvin are undergrad freshman roommates. This is exactly as awesome as it sounds. I like to think it takes place in the same 'verse as this kid I once knew.

Mulan
- Uxorilocal by Val Mora: A short exploration of political issues leading up to Mulan and Shang's wedding.

The politics are fun and believable, and the fic feels a little Disney and a little China and a whole lot of love.

Gargoyles
- Was (Wasn't) by LJC: The greatest trick the Puck had ever played was telling the world Owen Burnett didn't exist.

Very nice little bit of character exploration.

- Mutually Assured by Xparrot: She doesn't hear him coming, not until Macbeth is already in her private study.

A really well done Demona/Macbeth piece with all of their issues from the show still thoroughly intact.

Ursula Vernon - Works
- the city will sleep by maginaliana: The labyrinth is dreaming.

A [livejournal.com profile] gearworld fanfic that really feels like it would fit in the Gearworld mythos. Amazing piece.

Greek Mythology
- Moirai by prozacpark: "that's the art of war, and she knows war." [Hera and Athena as allies in a war against Zeus.]

A serious look at how two of the more dangerous female goddesses with grudges against Zeus deal with him.

- Here Thy Hands Let Fall the Gather'd Flower by Cinaed: Persephone wanted to be one of Artemis’s maidens. Hades wanted to help her avoid Zeus’s unwanted attentions. Needless to say, things didn’t go according to plan.

This is a sweet take on the Hades and Persephone myth. Cute and lovely, and I did enjoy it how Artemis and Athena apparently made everything think Hades had stolen Persephone to be his bride, and he is all "...what?" when Hermes comes to remonstrate with him and Persephone is all "he did not!".

Discworld
- Perforations by redsnake05: Drumknott thinks the world chiefly needs fileboxes which are not so flimsy. Vetinari thinks about this and tries out some new ideas.

This is one of the better stories I've seen written from Vetinari's point-of-view, and it's a surprisingly cute interaction between him and his secretary.

- The Flint in the Chalk by lakester: Stories bend lives around them to survive, but life goes on after the story ends. Tiffany's still the witch of the Chalk, the people there are still her people, and there's still witching in plenty to be done. Maybe with time enough for a happy ending.

A well-written story set after "I Shall Wear Midnight" that feels like an extension of the Tiffany Aching stories.

Hellboy (movies)
- Missing Link by gryvon: When John Myers heard he was being transferred to Antarctica, he'd expected penguins, snow, and cold so deep he could feel it in his bones. Instead, he got a jungle paradise filled with monsters, strange ruins from a lost culture, and a surly elf determined to kill him and every other human on the base the instant he lets his guard down. He would have preferred the cold.

Does everything it says on the tin. Really good John fic. <3

Echo Bazaar
- Better the Devil of Your Mysterious and Somewhat Questionable Acquaintance by mjules: "Let's have another round for the bright red devil who keeps me in this tourist town."

An early incident in the career of any dweller in the Neath: meeting the Affectionate Devil. I'm not normally a fan of second-person but it works in this story. Really well-written, and it fits the game mechanics into the story in interesting ways.

Also, the ending line is perfect.

(I think the farther one goes in the plots of Echo Bazaar, the harder it would be to write them as second-person because things get so influenced by everything you've done previously.)

Toby Daye
- And To All a Good Night by knitmeapony: Toby's been getting December visitations since she was a kid. When he comes back, she decides to get to the bottom of it.

This really feels like it fits in Toby Daye's universe. It is also a very good Christmas story.

Penny Arcade
- Snow-manji by Quettaser: The devil is in the dice.

This completely seems like it could be a Penny Arcade strip-series.

Stargate: Universe
- Santa's Little Helper by Yukito: Eli might seem like he's up to no good, but will he get a clump of coal in his stocking for Christmas?

A cute Christmas story aboard the Destiny.

- Duets by laure: Friendships form. Sometimes unlikely. Sometimes out of necessity. Sometimes very simply. On a ship like Destiny, everyone needs some one to make the days and nights a little easier.

A very nice series of vignettes between pairs of people aboard the Destiny.

Oglaf
- Diplomacy as (Con) Artistry by Truth: Never kid a kidder.

Ivan tries to out-maneuver the Mistress by bargaining with Sandoval the Xoan Ambassador. This goes about as well as can be expected. Great fun, really fits with the source material.

- "weaker" sex by dropsofviolet: Kronar's son was named Beth, and she knew from very early on that she was different. She wore the Bow of Honor, after all, and none of the other kids got to fight wolves until they were at least three.

This is a really adorable story of the Son of Kronar growing up.

Lackadaisy
- Lesson Learned: St. Louis is Not New York (or New Orleans) by Ryuutchi: Life is all about poor decisions. The point is what you make of them, who you make them with, and how much fun you decide to have along the way.

Nico Savoy and Mordecai have some common threads that pull together in interesting ways. Of course, what they did when they were at home is not at all what they'll do in St. Louis. The author really gets both their voices down.

Jackie Chan Adventures
- Paperwork by scorpiod: Captain Black shows the latest Section 13 recruit around. And then things go bad.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Really feels like an episode from the show. <3
