First of all, thank you for whatever you write for me this year. Please have fun and try not to stress over this. Unless you're like me, where running around and going "aieeee!" is part of the fun. ;-)

I am generally into all sorts of stories: adventure, romance, drama, comedy. Since this is Yuletide, I definitely do not want a deathfic, and for the most part, I'm not particularly interested in angst. I'm also not interested in a fic that's solely smut; I'd rather have some plot going on alongside the sexy times. (I'm not really expecting smut to come up with any of my prompts, but I figured I'd throw that out there.)

Friends who did Yuletide for the first time this year: did you enjoy it?

Sign-ups are still open. You don't need to have nominated fandoms for Yuletide in order to sign up. This is my fourth year participating and only my second year nominating fandoms. The deadline to sign up is sometime on November 19th.
Follow the comms. You'll want to be following both yuletide and yuletide_admin if you're new. They're both full of helpful information and updates.
Yes, the sign-up is a mess. This is the first year we've used AO3 as an integral part of the sign-up process. It shows. (I also hate the AO3 interface at the best of times. This is not the best of times.) It's getting hammered by people signing up, so you'll likely have to be patient. They think they've fixed the browser-crashing problems, though.

They are keeping track of known issues and do have a tutorial for the new process. Video, yes, but there are transcriptions. Special attention to the this one if you want to write for more than ten fandoms.
You will be matched on ONE fandom. You sign up to receive three-four different fandoms with whatever character set you want. You also sign up to write four-many fandoms with whatever character sets you want. The only guarantee you get for matching in this exchange is that the person you are assigned to write for wants one of the fandom/character combos you agreed to write for.

Given that there are over forty-two hundred fandoms up for Yuletide eligibility, this is the only way to make it work.

(As a word of advice, don't throw in fandoms you grudgingly go "I can write this, I guess". 'Cause that's inevitably the one you'll get matched on. >_>)
Write a 'Dear Yuletide Writer' letter. There's a lot more detail here on what those are and why they're very helpful. Yuletide is collecting them for sharing. Some people like to write more than one Yuletide story! ^_^ (I am planning to try that this year.) Please post your AO3 handle in the comment title and list your fandoms in the body of the comment.

There are many communication mediums for Yuletide. I know there's an IRC chat every year, Twitter has the #yuletide hashtag, I am sure there are many other ways to ensconce yourself with people and squee over Yuletide. Check it out!
Have fun! However you decide to have fun, too. If flailing over the impossibility is part of the fun, be free! If hiding in a dark cave with your prompts, talking to no one and just petting them until you spring into action on the keyboard is part of the fun, do that!

yuletide story successfully uploaded a full two days before it was due! Which is much better than I've done in my previous years of participation.

Now I'm going to work on my Twelve Days ficlets, which is still open to requests. I screened all the comments over there, by the way. If I can knock out a couple of those, I'm going to go poke at giftfics for some of my people.

God, it's so wonderful to have a functioning brain.

I've completed teller training. I am now (theoretically) capable of running a teller window. Tomorrow, I report to work at 9am for an as-yet-undetermined number of hours.

Tonight, Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert.

In the meantime, I'm going to gut my

yuletide story, because I realized sometime last night that the current ending sucks and it needs to be redone.

Yuletide sign-ups are open! No lie, Yuletide is my favorite ficathon of the year. There are a bazillion rare fandoms to write or read for, and so much very awesome comes out it every year.

Yuletide pulled all Transformers categories from being eligible this year on the basis of it being "too big of a franchise". Kind of sucks, to me, and I'll have to give some second and third thoughts to if I want to add writing a Yuletide fic onto my load of things I'm already writing for December.

(Damn it, writing Transformers is easy for me. Yuletide having that was something that meant I could confidently say "sure, I can participate!". Because I'd wind up writing giant space-robots.)

So. We'll see how that goes.

Dear Yuletide Santa,

I signed up for four different fandoms that I don't actually talk about a lot on this journal. I decided that instead of Transformers, which I can sate myself on pretty easily, I would go for the strange and odd little things that I would probably never get a chance to have otherwise.

I left most of my optional fields blank, so if you're looking for a little more guidance on what would make me happy, here it goes.
