Give me an AU prompt, and I'll write you something of at least a hundred words. All AUs I've done before, except LaS, Assimilation, Flint, and DotM, can be requested. I might deny some prompts if they involve something plot-centric to the last part of "Bedrock".

Give a character name, then AU prompt. More details make me happy, though I can't promise I'll touch on everything in the prompt.

Three slots for everybody, five slots for dark_puck, spyridona, suzukiblu, and neldluva. Bonus slots are available if you request Zhao, Pakku, or Jeong Jeong.

Zuko joins the Freedom Fighters

When Zuko was very, very young, a friend of Uncle's came to visit with Uncle Iroh. He didn't remember much about the man, barely remembered the man at all, except for a stern voice and a leaf thrust into Zuko's little hands.

'Let the leave burn without being consumed, and you may have some skill someday, boy.'

He sat on a branch, eyes closed. He was supposed to be on watch. Smellerbee and Jet would both have his hide for not actually watching. Longshot sat in a higher branch, though, and the quiet boy actually seemed to understand how much Zuko needed to be by himself right now.

'Lee,' he mouthed. 'Lee, of no family worth mentioning.'

That's what people called him now. That's what Jet's forces called him. He needed to learn to answer to it.

'Burn without being consumed,' the voice of Uncle's friend echoed in his mind.

If he had stayed his course, if he had hunted the Avatar like he was supposed to, he would have been consumed. He could see that now that he could look back at those two years before Jet found him, bleeding and dazed on the edges of a fight.

He was starting to realize, though, that being Lee meant not burning.

He... He didn't think he could do that.

Ooh... I quite liked this! I like Jeong Jeong's slow burning leaf metaphor - "Burn without being consumed." I really liked the implications of the last two lines, as well. :)

Ah-hah. So he's caught between being consumed and not burning at all. Poor boy.
