AU Meme
Give me an AU prompt, and I'll write you something of at least a hundred words. All AUs I've done before, except LaS, Assimilation, Flint, and DotM, can be requested. I might deny some prompts if they involve something plot-centric to the last part of "Bedrock".
Give a character name, then AU prompt. More details make me happy, though I can't promise I'll touch on everything in the prompt.
Three slots for everybody, five slots for
dark_puck,
spyridona,
suzukiblu, and
neldluva. Bonus slots are available if you request Zhao, Pakku, or Jeong Jeong.
I promise to answer at least one request.
MEME IS CLOSED.

Ozai, if Aang was brought out of hibernation twenty-five/thirty-five years earlier
Lu Ten, if he didn't die at the walls of Ba Sing Se
Ozai, if Aang was brought out of hibernation twenty-five years earlier
Ozai knew he wasn't going to enjoy this as soon as he realized that. Not because of any misplaced sense of affection - at seventeen, he was already a killer - but because he knew what a powerful, twelve-year-old 'bender could do.
On the ice below, Lu Ten and the Avatar danced around each other, talking fast and bright. Lu Ten's heels struck sparks, the Avatar seemed hardly able to stay on the ground. But there was a mirrored delight in their faces.
Give them enough time, Ozai knew, and Lu Ten would talk the Avatar onto their ship.
He should be elated, he thought as he struck flame to a roll of Earth Kingdom tobacco. Azulon and his brother had never gotten this far in their own quests; not even Grandfather had seen the Air Avatar. He and Lu Ten, however, had found the Avatar. Despite the three Water Tribe youths circling warily around Lu Ten, they would easily capture the boy and bring him in chains to the Fire Nation.
Yet.
"Prince Lu Ten is doing a fine job at capturing the enemy," the captain said, standing at Ozai's elbow.
Ah. There it was.
Ozai took a long drag on the cigarette. No matter what Ozai did, Azulon would lavish the glory and honor on Lu Ten. He would discount Ozai's presence, erase him from the history of the Fire Nation if he could.
No, Ozai decided, the Avatar would not be captured here and in this way.
He looked at the Water Tribe youths, picked out the boy who acted as leader. The one with the seal-pelt hair looked almost his own age. Across the space from the deck of the ship to the ice below, blue eyes met gold. Ozai dipped his head as if focusing on his cigarette.
"Lu Ten is careless," he said to the captain. "He forgets he's not alone with the Avatar."
The Water Tribe youth threw his boomerang, and Lu Ten twisted as it whirled past him, surprise on his face. His expression quickly turned to a scowl, and he snapped out flames.
The Avatar looked horrified.
"He forgets, too, that the Avatar is not one of us."
"Prince, we need to-"
"He'll only learn this lesson if he actually gets hurt, captain." Ozai tracked the return of the boomerang, saw his nephew stagger as it struck his head. "A little longer."
"The Avatar will escape!"
"We'll chase him," Ozai murmured. "I'll chase him to the ends of the world if I have to."
The girl moved swiftly, snagging the Avatar by the back of his tunic and dragging him back as the two boys moved forward. Lu Ten faced them, but he looked pale and a little shaky, his flames wavering wildly.
Ozai crushed the cigarette out on his gauntlet. "Let's go fetch the young prince."

I can only imagine the interesting places such an A/U would go, but seeing the beginning is nice.
Hey, if you feel like asking on another meme (where it would be appropriate), I'd be glad to continue this particular thing.
Lu Ten, if he didn't die at the walls of Ba Sing Se
He didn't think much of it until he paid a visit to his office for the first time. His secretary sat at a writing desk in the antechamber, short hair arranged like a soldier. He looked up as Hyo entered the room, smiled-
(The Fire Prince grinned as he flung spears of flame at Hyo, twisting and ducking to avoid the rocks being flung at him. Not all missed.)
Hyo's arm felt freshly savaged. "What are you doing here?"
"Sir?" The smile faded. "Is there something wrong? Xin Wan said this was my new post... He said I'd earned the promotion to secretary for Commander Hyo of the Dai Li..."
Hyo gritted his teeth. Apparently he hadn't punched Xin Wan in the head hard enough.
