Livejournal as E-Mail: Hoy, Dun!

Or, you know, anybody in general.

What would you recommend for someone to learn to play Onslaught better? Preference for stuff on tactics, but also looking for general character stuff.

The best advice I could give would be to remember that Onslaught is an armchair general. If winning a war was as simple as coming up with a good plan for doing it, he'd have defeated the Autobots vorn ago. The problem is that battle plans never survive their first encounter with the enemy and therefore, Onslaught's plans have a tendency not to work so well in the field. Which annoys him no end and leads him to blame everybody else for the failure of his brilliant strategies. In my personal headspace, Onslaught's problems are compounded by the existence of his 'beloved' teammates/brothers.

For tactics research, I'd recommend reading the Gambit Index on TVtropes.org as well as Tips on Writing Military SF (http://www.military-sf.com/) which explains things nicely for the non-military minded. There's even a button there marked "Tactics" that talks about units and weapons tactics, which can be happily scaled up for Transformers.

I'd also recommend watching The A-Team -- either the original series or the recent movie for the team vibe. Maybe also The Dirty Dozen since personally the Combaties resemble them a little better (though that might be me having a hard time believing those five were wrongfully convicted of anything).
