Interlude: Thanksgiving Sunday

Wherein Becca hides in the back with the computer and annoys her relatives by being non-sociable. Fortunately, we're still just cooking dinner and haven't had the ravenous hordes descend on us to feed.

Records of the trip up can be found on [livejournal.com profile] dragoness_e's journal.

My dad, on picking up my laptop case to put in the trunk: "Let me guess, you're a gold courier."

Construction equipment is not national park wildlife to be spotted.

It's highway wildlife.

Crack dream of crackiness that shows I've been listening to way too much Heather Alexander lately:

Human!Elita-1 singing while human!Soundwave fiddles and human!Rumble mans the drums. Human!Frenzy and Daniel occupy the background someplace.

Unfortunate rumors springing up in this rather backwards place because of Elita's bright, unnatural pink hair (and Rumble and Frenzy's unnatural colors as well):

Soundwave is a mortal musician who seduced a faery maiden and got her in the family way with twins. Daniel is a human child she stole.

Soundwave's commentary on this: "Rumours, improbable."

It's one of my character details that Elita-1 is no great beauty by Transformer standards. She's nice-looking and all, but she also likes to wear death colors and that really turns a guy off. She's also light on the kibble in robot-mode.

However, both she and her pre-Elita form, Ariel, have beautiful singing voices. That's what first made Orion Pax pick that goth-girl out of the crowd. But Elita-1 doesn't sing much anymore.

The one thing you see a male Transformer oggling a girly magazine, he's oggling a pink female-design robot. The fact that girly magazines contain pink female-design robots implies that the color is viewed as attractive enough to make such a venture profitable.

Ariel was apparenlty viewed as attractive enough that Orion Pax had to warn off the Arialbots and immediately "claim his turf" pretty much the moment she came on-screen in War Dawn.

Also, what a lot of people seem to forget when they do the "pink=death colors" equation is that colors certainly don't have solid and consistant meanings in human culture... why should they in Transformer culture?

Yes, sometimes red is the color of fresh-spilt blood. But sometimes, red is just red.

And sometimes red is a sexy cocktail dress.

All fair and honest points. I still prefer the idea that Elita-1 isn't terribly beautiful by Transformer standards.

Also, Aerialbots, not Arialbots.

Red is also "sex, passion" in terms of human colour symbolism, so if you wanna draw a parallel between that and pink-as-seen-by-Transformers... (Luna beat me to it)

And hey, a lot of human guys, esp. young human guys (Orion Pax was a young TF, as were the Aerialbots, coming to think of it) have a thing for hot goth girls, so maybe Ariel was considered attractive because she was a "goth girl." Maybe that pin-up Octane was ogling was the Cybertronian equivalent of a Suicide Girl. ;)

That dream is just awesome.
