For crystaldrake

He still has the admiral uniform. Somewhere. Buried under more useful things. (What is more useful than armor?) He does not fetch it out when they bring the lady to his camp.

He does his hair. It's the first time in years, and he nearly breaks the comb half a dozen times in frustration. In the end, he wears a soldier's topknot again.

He looks at himself in a bowl of water, and he wonders how his own face can be so alien.

She still has the crown. She wears it inside her robes most of the time. But for this, prisoner of these strange but oh-so-definitely Fire Nation men, she takes it out. Her fingers comb through her hair as she redoes her topknot to accommodate the crown.

It feels heavy, her head unused to its weight.

The flap of the tent sweeps open and a man ducks inside. Skin roughened by exposure, double-blade scar against his right eye, yellow eyes fell and burning, body drawn taut as a bowstring by the war.

Admiral Jeong Jeong strikes her as more dangerous now than he was when she first met him.

Princess Ursa strikes him as more dangerous now than she was when he first met her.

She looks up at him proudly, a prisoner in an Earth Kingdom camp, her crown blazing, her eyes molten, her body tense with restrained rage. The very epitome of a Fire Nation woman.

"Tea?" he growled.

***

"Tea," she agreed.
