Baaaaaaaaby Meme!
Because my hormones are flailing at me and demanding procreation. Stupid hormones.
Rules:
- Two slots unless you're one of the people I normally give extra slots to. In that case, you get five.
- Male/female pairings only. Or female/female with suggested sperm donors. I've already done an mpreg meme, kthx.
- Kids will range in age, names, genders, 'bending abilities, etc. as the whim takes me. If I already have some kidlets for a particular pairing, I'm likely to write them instead of making up new kids.

Sokka/Suki, responsible parenting?
Zuko/Mai, family time with the little prince
"Do it anyway," Mai said to her son.
The young prince scowled, looking so much like his father it made her smile. A pair of weighted wooden practice swords lay at his feet, dropped in his current fit of temper. "I did it ten times already!"
"You're halfway done then," she said mildly.
Hitozi scowled even harder, and Mai mentally braced herself for a full-scale temper-tantrum. She did not enjoy having to turn her back and ignore it while her son screamed and wept. But, better she did it than Zuko, since he couldn't handle it at all.
He wanted to coddle his son far too much. Mai loved his protective love for Hitozi, but she knew her son needed to learn how to fight even more quickly and efficiently than either she or Zuko had.
He couldn't 'bend, after all, and he was the only child of an unpopular Firelord. There would come a day when neither she, Zuko, nor the guards would be quite fast enough.
Hitozi would have to be fast enough himself.
Her son crossed his arms. "I want to practice what Grandfather taught me."
Mai raised an eyebrow. "When did your grandfather teach you anything, Hitozi?"
"When you were busy with the little bear." Hitozi looked far too smug. He really was picking up bad habits from Ozai.
"Your swords first. Then the rest of your training." Mai made a mental note to ask Ty Lee to teach Hitozi unarmed combat. Her friend would be much better for the young prince than the fallen Phoenix King.

Sokka/Suki, responsible parenting
The two children froze, Kilak with earth cresting in a wave over his head, Jinjing with water snaking around her legs. Miksa, her precious, darling, quiet little boy, peeked down from the tree he'd climbed.
Suki stared at the small swamp surrounding her two 'bender children. She stared at the mud-soaked clothes all three of them were wearing, Kilak's mud-caked hair, and Jinjing's severed braid lying in a puddle.
She closed her eyes and recited one of the little handed-down stories about Avatar Kyoshi that the Kyoshi Warriors used to guide themselves. "Where is your father?"
"Shan tripped," Kilak said, rolling his eyes with his immense eight-year-old scorn for babies.
"His leg went -crack-, and he was crying and crying," Miksa volunteered, and Suki felt her heart skip a beat. "So Daddy took him down to the bay, because-"
"He saw Aunt Katara's ship coming in," Jinjing interruped her older brother. "He said she could make it better. He said we should stay here and not get into trouble. He said he'd be right back, but that was ages ago."
With four young children, Suki had learned that what her children thought of as 'ages' could often be as short as a quarter of an hour. So. Her husband hadn't done anything exceptionally foolish, though she was going to have words with him about leaving the three older children alone.
Her hands went to her hips as she frowned at her children. "What part of 'not get into trouble' did you three have a hard time with?"
"Kilak wanted to go down to the docks!" Jinjing said, her water clattering to ice and melting in the sun. The five-year-old girl scowled at it and petulantly kicked at the puddle, splashing muddy water everywhere.
"I just wanted to find out where Dad was!" Kilak let his earth drop back to the ground. "I was going to take the babies with me, but-"
"I'm not a baby!" Miksa snapped.
"Are too!"
"Am not!" Then, wonder of wonders, her little non-bending son launched himself out of his tree, tackling his older brother to the ground.
Jinjing stared, her mouth in a round O of surprise.
Suki sighed and slapped her hands against her dress, then waded in to break up this fight. She was starting to see why her uncle had raised his eyebrows a bit about her marrying a Water Tribesman.

Katara/Aang - Um, are his kids the last airbenders or waterbenders or just non-bending genius's like Sokka? *grin*
Toph/Zuko, everyone expects their kid to be a real hellion
The midwife shifted on the bed, and Toph assumed she was being given a stern look. Woman totally didn't have any sense of humor. Toph would have way preferred the servants' midwife, but no, Zuko thought they had to do this all official and traditional. Like she didn't know how to push or something.
Still, she felt stone in the kid's bones. Like her and Haru and the Boulder and Long Feng and Kuei. That made up for a lot of unpleasantness.
"Hah?" Zuko asked from the other side of her, and the bed shifted under him as he laid a hand on her shoulder. "You did it."
"Of course I did, Sparky." Toph grinned. "Tell me what he looks like."
"Um." Zuko paused, and she listened to his breathing and the midwife's breathing. "Small. Red. Wet. Wrinkly. His eyes look like mine when he bothers to open them."
"He needs a name," the Seneschal volunteered from her post by the door. "It won't be officially announced until he survives his first week, but I'm sure you would prefer to call him something rather than 'the boy'."
Zuko made some waffling noises that basically came down to him agreeing but having no ideas about names. That was just fine by Toph.
Her grin stretched even wider. "Let's call him Sozin."

Katara/Aang, not the last airbender
It makes running from Uncle Zuko's guards a lot harder when the bit of "can't catch me" magic doesn't work.
Kitsi doesn't care that his papa will tan his hide for losing the Avatar's little girl. Kanna doesn't, either, but Kitsi is interesting. He does things with air that Dad doesn't. Dad is all about the sanctity of life and putting people down but not out.
Kitsi's mama was a strangler before Dad found her and taught her more airbending than song and stealing breath. Kitsi's papa was a career Fire Nation officer during the bad ol' days. He's very, very different from the way Dad and Mama are raising her to be.
Which is weird, because they've both lived in the Northern Air Temple for as long as Kanna can remember.
She jogs after Kitsi, keeping hold of the thread of his breath and ignoring his attempts to get her to go play with the twins. She doesn't want to play with the twins. The twins are boring 'benders, all fire and earth. There are lots and lots of fire and earth 'benders out there already.
There's only a handful of airbenders, and she's not letting Kitsi get away just because he thinks five years are oh-so huge a gap.

Mai/Haru, the child is lovely, oh yes she is
The fire moved with one of their breaths, at least. Fire Sage Geming had led many children through their first firebending test, and he recognized the signs of a fire only guided by one heart. Completely understandable, of course. Twins almost never had the same 'bending. In a mixed marriage, they might have different types of 'bending, but Firelord Zuko and Lady Mai were both pure Fire Nation.
"Harumi, hold your breath for a count of eight," Geming instructed.
The little girl pursed her lips together. The fire immediately lost its guidance.
"Thank you. You two may rise."
The twin princesses rose and turned towards him expectantly. They looked so much like their mother, but they were even more lovely than she. They were, sadly, not the luck-sign of identical twins. Firelord Zuko could have greatly used such a sign of favor from the spirits.
Kohaku was a little finer of feature than her sister. Geming suspected she would grow up to be more beautiful, though they would both be lovely women. None of Lady Mai's children were at all plain.
"I'm afraid you are not a firebender, Kohaku, though you are, Harumi," he said gently.
Kohaku's expression fell, and she crossed her arms sullenly.
Harumi beamed and elbowed her sister. "Firebender! I'll make flames like Father!"
Kohaku sniffed and turned her back to her sister. Geming winced as he caught the tears at the edge of the little girl's eyes. This was always the hard part.
Harumi evidently inherited more than just her father's firebending, as she pursued her sister. "Kohaku, come on, we have to go tell Father-"
"No, we don't!" Kohaku snapped, stomping her foot against the stone-tile floor.
The room rattled.

Ursa/Ozai, a third try or a first mistake?
He was certain there were more mistakes for Ursa to make as well.
"We can't keep her," he said bluntly.
Ursa raised her eyes to his, pulling the babe closer to her chest. Exhaustion lined her face, but her eyes were bright and fierce. "She is my child, Ozai. I've already had to give up my first two because of you- I will not give up this one."
"Azula is a madwoman, and Zuko is- Another failure." Ozai crossed his arms.
"Azula is insane because of you-"
"Because of you, as well, Ursa. Azula was eight when you left. She had half her life with her mother. You can't blame every evil that has happened to her because of me."
Ursa bared her teeth, holding the child all the tighter. "You're not going to take her from me."
"So we can destroy another child?" Her flinch did not please Ozai, but he bore on anyway. "I've seen something of how parents are supposed to be, Ursa. I can't be someone like Hakoda, and you- I don't know how you failed with Azula, but I suspect you do."
"I will not fail this one." Her expression softened as she glanced down at the child. "You don't have to, either, Ozai. You could be a father, a real father, for once in your life."
He stared down at her as she lay on the bed stained with birthing fluids, holding their third child in her arms. She looked beatific, lovely and fierce and terrible. This child, like Azula, had been born easily and would grow up strong.
(Hopefully a strong 'bender too, some part of him whispered fearfully. Do not let his own spiritual maiming pass on to the child.)
"It is not in me, Ursa," he said finally.
"You never knew what it meant to be a father before, did you?" She said softly. "Azulon was never a father, Iroh was gone so often, and there was no one else at all, was there? But," her voice gained strength, "You've seen how Hakoda is. You can do this, Ozai."
"No," he said, his voice strangely thick.
"Please."
He never could resist her when she said please.

Song/Long Feng, in her father's eyes
He smiled at her and softly murmured a godfather's blessing before passing her back to Long Feng. The director held her very close to his chest, almost as if he was afraid someone would snatch her out of his hands.
His knuckles were white, Hyo noted. "Sir, you can relax a little. Babies aren't slippery."
Long Feng frowned. "Everyone keeps trying to touch her."
"... You are showing her off, sir."
"That doesn't mean they can touch her."
Song just gave birth two days ago, Hyo reminded himself. Her first child, and she was very young. The director had stayed up with her through the birthing, and then there was that little crisis with the slavers that Qin had thoughtlessly dropped onto Long Feng's desk instead of his...
"Sir, when did you last get some sleep?"
"... I had coffee this morning, Hyo."
"That long, sir," Hyo said flatly. "Take a Joo Dee and go home to your wife. You both need to rest."
Long Feng gave him a stern look. Hyo returned the look, knowing the director wouldn't back down in the slightest until he decided Hyo's ideas had merit.
Hyo could keep up a staring match for a long time.
Which, of course, meant Jae waltzed into the director's office and made an excited sound over the baby, which meant Long Feng had to allow her to be looked at again. And preen. And preen on his wife's behalf. And avoid thinking about actually sleeping.
Hyo made a mental note to punish Jae in a way that didn't actually look like a punishment.

Katara/Hahn, she didn't cheat with Zuko
He patted her breast, and she laughed softly. "You're going to be a heartbreaker when you grow up, aren't you?"
Yuu gazed at her with blue eyes as she shifted him in her arms so she could undo her dress to let him nurse. It never failed to soften her heart, make her love the little boy with the moon-white hair streaked with black.
It was going to break her heart to give him up. She could see that coming as simply and unavoidably as she'd seen that Aang would save the world from the Fire Nation.
"Hey," Hahn said softly as he ducked into the apartment. He grinned and kissed her cheek, his hands settling on her hips.
She'd never seen him smile before Yuu was born. Angry sneers seemed to be his stock-in-trade for the longest time, and even now, anger burned cold in him. It was low and sullen, and she didn't think he even realized it was there.
She didn't want to realize it was there. She just wanted to be here, with her child and her-
Except thinking about Hahn broke the fantasy. He wasn't her husband, or even her lover. Oh, they were lovers, but that was more because she wanted someone, and he didn't see a reason to say no to a lovely woman.
Especially not the one who'd brought his son into the world.
Yue's son.
Katara clutched Yuu a little tighter, and he made a startled sound against her skin.
She should have said no when Yue asked her for a child. She should have said no and run because giving up Yuu- Giving up Yuu was going to hurt so damn much. It made her want to cry just thinking about it.
Worst of all or best of all, she still had another year of keeping Yuu to herself, her son instead of his. She couldn't leave the little boy unweaned.
She wished she could cut that stupid moon-white hair away.

Hitozi and Roku have adventures
They were both the firstborn sons of Firelord Zuko and Lady Mai, after all.
Roku stood back and watched as Hitozi danced through the animated corpses of the earthbender guards. Well, not 'danced', not exactly. Dancing didn't usually leave severed limbs flailing around on the floor. But Roku could see Aunt Ty Lee in Hitozi's style, and Father when he was enjoying himself.
The whirl of battle spun Hitozi towards him, and he caught a flash of the other man's smile. It made him smile himself, and not just at the grace of Hitozi's fight. For all the other man dressed like a fire's shadow in ember-reds and blacks, he wasn't as restrained as Mother in his emotions.
Then an animated corpse latched onto his back, and Roku was much too busy to watch Hitozi fight. Fire flared around him, and the thing screamed as it withered to ash.
He sighed at the necrotic grue staining his clothes. "This is disgusting. Hitozi, get out of the way and let me kill them!"
Hitozi grunted and leaped straight up, one of his swords slamming into the ceiling. He twisted his wrist to hook the sword in the stone, then twisted his whole body to hold himself parallel to the floor.
Definitely a lot of Aunt Ty Lee's influence.
Roku smiled and called flame.
Afterwards, Hitozi landed lightly on the floor, one of his swords looking rather mangled. The other- Two. When did he get the third one there, Roku wondered. And-
"Why do you have a sword in your mouth?"
Hitozi grinned around the hilt of the bloodied sword.
"Did you actually hit some people with that? With it in your mouth?"
Hitozi nodded.
Roku folded his arms and scowled. "And you called me a show-off."

Bonus: Hitozi/Roku
But Hitozi was still handsome, and Roku was still pretty.
When a bruise darkened Hitozi's cheek, and his tongue darted out to lick blood from his split lip, Roku really cursed it.
Scarily, it was Hitozi who broke first.
After wiping out another pocket of the necromancer's animated corpses, Roku rolled his shoulders to work out the knots. He caught Hitozi looking at him, eyes bright, and then the other man launched himself at Roku-
Roku brought his hands up, flame wreathing his fists, and he burned Hitozi's shirt as the other man's mouth captured his in a searing kiss.
Oh, oh, oh!
Roku snarled, feeling himself immediately harden even as the fire disappeared. He fisted his hands in Hitozi's shirt, yanked the other man against him, kissed and kissed and kissed until he was near senseless from lack of air and the feel of hot lips.
Then Hitozi pushed his shoulders against the wall, and-
And.

Iroh/Ming, sometimes these surprises happen
Ming eyed her lover. "Those are teas."
"As I said-" He nodded, looking pleased with himself.
"You do not name a child after tea," Ming said archly. The little girl was three days old, and it was time for her to have a proper name. By Ming's standards, at least. The royal family apparently did not officially name children until they were a week-old.
They also didn't offer to the local river spirits and fire shrine to guard the child, so she could see why they lost so many children young.
"We will be living in Ba Sing Se," Iroh said, his tone placating. "We can't name her after a traditional Fire Nation hero."
"There are so many, many options between 'traditional Fire Nation hero' and 'tea'."
"There are some lovely tea names..."
"I am the one who brought her into the world, and I'm telling you, we are not naming her after a tea, Iroh!"
"There really are lovely tea names," he said, arm going around her shoulder. His smile was warm as he leaned towards her, and she shivered as he whispered against her cheek, lips brushing her skin. "Jasmine, for one."
Ming reached up, her fingers stroking his beard. "Convince me."
He blinked. "Are you certain-"
"The baby is actually asleep right now. I have many cousins, and this is the only time you're going to get in the next four months," she said, fingers tangling in his beard. "So you'd better convince me very well if you want to name her after a tea."

Ty Lee/Haru: same faces, different places
Suki is leading a class of older girls in fan-fighting. She glances over at him, and the entire class follows the direction of her gaze. They do not bow, and Zuko doesn't expect them to.
A lot of his own nobles don't bother with bowing. The Kyoshi Warriors don't even owe him the respect the daimyos ought.
Zuko smiles at the two children. "You must be Ty Lee's twins."
They nod, one quick jerk of their heads that sets their braids bouncing. It's very Ty Lee.
"What're your names?"
"Lin," said the one on the right, at the same time the one on the left said, "Takao."
"Those are pretty names." He studies them, something nagging at him. Mai talked a lot about Ty Lee's twins, even more than she did about Hitozi. Weren't they- "I thought Ty Lee had a girl and a boy."
The one on the left stamped her- his foot. "I am a boy!"

Mai/Aang, things all children should know how to do
Long Feng/Song, when work and family time mix
Father doesn't prompt her on what it means. He merely waits.
Xiyu considers the symbols that make up the character and the context all around it. She can make a guess as to what it means, but she is not entirely sure. Either way, she doesn't know how to pronounce it.
"What's this?" She asks.
Father sketches a set of character from the simplified syllable-characters the Fire Nation sometimes uses. Xiyu studies it, then sounds at the word.
"Decapitated- what does that mean?"
"His head was cut off."
"Oh." Xiyu frowned. She'd never met Agent Kyung, but she liked all the Dai Li she had met. She didn't want to think of any of them getting hurt. "This is an old report, isn't it, Father?"
"Yes."
"Did you catch the person who did this?"
An expression she didn't recognize crossed Father's face. "Yes," he said distantly. "We did."
Xiyu nodded. "Good. People shouldn't hurt Dai Li."
Her father smiled fondly. "As you say, Xiyu. It is as you say."

Toph/Zuko, Sozin gets a little sister
"She's cute," Gyatso says, peeking over the edge of the crib. "Teeny! Look at her little fingers!"
"It's useless," Sozin grumbles. "It just lies there. Sometimes it cries."
"She," Gyatso says patiently. "Her name's Kyoshi. She's your little sister. And she was just born, Sozin. It takes a while for people to get interesting."
"I don't like it."
"Would it kill you to use her gender?"
Sozin scowled at his friend, who just regarded him with wide grey eyes. Gyatso was such a dork sometimes, and he never took anything seriously. Of course, he didn't expect anything better from an airhead.
"I'm guessing that scowl's a yes."
Dork.

(I almost suggested Cecil/Phong, with Phong being female. After all, there's that kangaroo drawer. But I'm not that evil.)
Mouse/Ray
---
A portal opened in the skies of Mainframe, and a grey-armored surfbaud shot out. It whanged against a floating 'Welcome to Mainframe' sign, busting one of the hover-mechanisms and knocking the whole thing over.
It shed its armor as the portal closed, and then a young man swirled into existence atop the baud. He grinned, a pair of goggles resting in his hair, pushing the bright static up in spikes.
He looked down at the system floating in the energy sea with large brown eyes. "Hey, Mainframe. Bit Torrnt's back!"

Shockwave/Elita One; it was a diplomatic marriage
She tapped the standard hailing frequency. "This is Bowshock of Cybertron. State your business."
A pale face looked back at her, crowned by a helmet she'd only seen in history vids. In fact, the whole Transformer was one she'd only seen in history vids. Her fuel ran cold.
"Shockwave leaves rather insolent mechs on communications duty these days," the red-and-white Seeker to Megatron's left said scornfully.
Megatron said nothing, merely regarded her. For the first time in a long time, Bowshock was aware of how she must look. Soft lilac and hard white, yellow hexagonal optics, blank face save for those optics, her father's headfins and her mother's wheels.
"What symbol is that you wear?" Megatron asked.
Bowshock tilted her head down, stared at the melded Autobot-Decepticon symbol inscribed on her chest. She looked up, saw the simple purple one on his, on the wings of the Seekers, on everyone aboard that ship.
They'll ruin everything, she thought distantly. Father will side with Megatron, and there will be no more peace again.
"Autocon sigil," she said, one hand settling on the fire-control array.
Would you do this if this was Optimus Prime?
She stared at the screen, at the subtle shift in optic-light from Megatron and the red-and-white Seeker.
Yes.
She locked target on their ship.

Anyway. Suppose Katara settles in and accepts what she has. Now how do the Fire Lord, the Fire Lady, and the Fire Nation (by proxy) react to her bastard fire/water children?
Or failing that, Katara/Zuko plz?
Zuko/Katara, how do the Firelord, Lady Mai, and the Fire Nation react to Katara's son?
He remembers, when he was very young, she would take him someplace where the ground was endless white and the sky was endless blue. He would be bundled up so he could hardly move, but he would be warm and safe.
That stopped when he began to burn.
The Firelord and Mother quarreled. He remembered crying and sparking as he listened to them, at Mother yelling that she would not let Zuko control how he was raised, at the Firelord reminding her that a firebender of the line of Sozin could not be wasted. That had only set Mother off more and worse, until she had thrown the Firelord out of her townhouse entirely.
Sunik never left the Fire Nation after that, though. He didn't mind, sometimes, especially since he began to be allowed to play with Prince Hitozi.
Hitozi did not burn. Sunik didn't understand how the Firelord's son couldn't burn. As he got older, though, he heard how people referred to Hitozi as Lady Mai's son rather than the Firelord's, and he started to wonder if Hitozi actually was Zuko's.
That didn't make Hitozi less of his friend. Especially not after Lady Mai found them sailing little boats across the turtleduck pond one evening, and she took them both to eat with her and spend the night telling fairytales. Haru, one of Mother's friends from the Earth Kingdom, joined them sometime during the night.
After that, Sunik and Hitozi would spend a lot of time with his mother. Sometimes Haru was around, too, and Sunik loved it when the earthbender was. Mostly, though, he loved being around Lady Mai. She was so calm and collected; she wasn't tempestuous like Mother and she never treated him like a baby.
Hitozi was a year older than Sunik, and he went to join the army as soon as he was a man grown. Sunik followed when he could. Hitozi had a year on him, but he was certain he would catch up soon.
"You're in the wrong place, Water Tribe," one of his bunkmates sneers at him the first day.
It goes downhill from there.
