Meme because I cannot brain

Writing too much lately. *exhausted*

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudocanon.

Good to know ^^

"Okay, so his older male relatives didn't stop until they were actually married."

I just imagined this horrible Azulon/Iroh/Ozai bachelor party. Please stop me before I write that.

... Like, slashily?

It would probably amuse me terribly. I tend to enjoy consensual Iroh/Ozai and non-consensual Azulon/Ozai don't judge me.

Actually, that's not what I meant. I meant a separate bachelor party ficlit for each character. But now that you mention it...

I have no room to judge you XD As far as pairings go, I am a fairly unconventional shipper. The characters are meant to be toyed with, right?

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
This is what happens when you string people together with slashes! ^_~ I'd read either version, really.

Yes, yes, they are. *strokes them* So many delicious combinations.

[identity profile] the-little-lion.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
I have got to stop doing that. Originally, the names were separated with 'or's, but I decided that the sentence looked better when I used slashes. Silly me XD

If it ever gets written, I will definitely show it to you! You inspired me with that Lu Ten comment. This is all your fault.

I'll ship just about anything if it's written well. If you can create a crazy pairing and make it believable... That's a wonderful skill. And besides that, pure crack! is just so amusing.

Same here. The problem, I often find, is the "written well" part of things.

[identity profile] the-little-lion.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. I know what you mean. If I like the pairing being written, I'm more likely to overlook the flaws of the story. If it's a pairing I don't really like, then I tend to be pickier writing-wise. But that's just me.

Once again, I don't really have room to judge ^^;

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I am super-picky about how my favorite characters are depicted. Makes most Ozai and Long Feng fic virtually unreadable to me.

[identity profile] the-little-lion.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I can't read certain pairings (Hakozai, for example) unless I write them myself. Though, there are always exceptions to this rule. Sometimes I'll take the plunge and read other people's stories just to gain a different perspective. But I read more than what's good for me. You can't keep me away from an Ozai fic, even a bad one. /shot

If it is bad, I'll be disappointed, of course. I don't like to find my favorite characters being portrayed the "wrong way" (or rather, in a way that I consider wrong). It makes me uncomfortable, for some reason.

God, Lion, shut up. *Is sorry for ranting*

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly, it makes me rant when I see my favorites portrayed in the "wrong way". I try to not let my head-canon influence how I read other people's works, but too often other people's works show no signs of looking at the nuances of the characters, the hows and whys. They just want a generic evil guy.

They just want a generic evil guy.

I can not tell you how much that bothers me. I can not even begin. It seems silly to get worked up over fandom, but... geez. I hate that.

Because I am a nerd and taking psychology, I took the liberty of psychoanalyzing Ozai. He is certainly not a "good man", but I assume there's a reason for that. Evil isn't born, it's created, you know?

"Everyone is the hero of their own story." Great thing to keep in mind when writing, I find.

[identity profile] the-little-lion.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. The characters always think they're just justified. The human condition is so interesting. *being nerdy again*
