When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?

Writing too much lately. *exhausted*

Name a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudocanon.

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

Upon request, I will post a random line or two from any of these you choose. Assuming that the file adds up to a full line, that is.

Feel free to pick another one after I answer your first bit, and feel free to ask for something someone else has asked for.

I've actually left out the files that consist solely of a title and a few notes.

This is apparently part of the art for a Shakespeare festival somewhere in America. That is all I know of its origins; I found it already made as an icon and "omigod, want." I should use it more, but there are fewer situations calling for Shakespeare revealing his S than you might think.



You know this to be true. I must admit, I didn't start falling for Norrington until the second and third movies. Scruffington helped a lot, but his death- *wibbles* That was a beautiful, heroic death, and I loved him.



mike_smith started reading Harry Potter with... "The Half-Blood Prince", I want to say. He was not impressed with it. He has since read the entire series. I am pretty sure he is still not impressed with it.



othellia has a project of going through and iconning each episode of AtLA. She's still in Season One right now - this particular one is from her latest batch with "The Storm". I actually have a lot of her icons. She's funny, and the icons are readable.

Sometime in the future, there will be original content again. However, that future is far away and full of shining and laughter and not working six days a week during the holiday season.

I think it would be fun to talk about stories, but the usual memes are like, "What happens next?" "Tell me about Character A?" Which isn't so much talking about stories as it is writing more of a story. But you know how sometimes you read something and you're like, "I got ___ out of this story, I wonder if I have that right?" or "What on earth was ____ supposed to be?" and it's too awkward to ask the author? Now you could totally ask!

I've heard people say that writing is hard because you have to make decisions, but we never really talk about the decisions we make with stories or why we make them. We talk about plot bunnies, but not about how we actually turn them into a story.

And it seems like a lot more fun to do that than to do working.

So, if you wanted, ask me questions! (Or use this to ask your flist to ask you questions).

What were you trying to do [here]? Why did you decide to ____? This is what I thought about xyz, is that what you were going for? What made you write ____? Why did you decide to do this? And so on.

I will post the opening lines of thirty songs. You have to guess the title and artist of as many as you can. Whoever gets the most right can claim a drabble off me.

You'll need title and artist (or soundtrack if it's on a soundtrack). Googling the lyrics is cheating. Going through your own music is not cheating. Comments are screened to ensure fairness.

A thought occurs to me...

How many AtLA pairings can I say "I've written that" to? (Or, hell, Transformers, but I know there are a lot more Transformers pairings I haven't done due to mainly only writing G1.)

Toss up five pairings, AtLA or Transformers, into the comments, and I'll answer (and link if I can find it) whether or not I've written that pairing.

You can play "stump the author" if you really want, but this is mostly for me to stare in horror at myself.
