Meme!
Because if I talked about training, I'd probably wind up discussing various ways to commit check-fraud. While I think that's useful information, it's not something I want to discuss in a blog entry.

The problem with me doing these is my explanations are either rambling and incoherent or come down to "it was pretty!".
1.
cleolinda does Movies in Fifteen Minutes (
m15m). She usually makes icons to accompany them, because she's awesome like that. She's also a major user of the Silkscreen font. This particular bit is from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Fifteen Minutes".
2.
This is another of
cleolinda's. In this one's case, I went "pretty!" and snagged it.

I made this! For an icon contest! I even won! Lyrics from "Holding Out for a Hero". It's kind of my 'in a bad place' icon when it's not my icon for talking about The Matrix.
4.
A while back, some guy was reading the Harry Potter series because people insisted he should. He was quite critical. Someone else made icons of some of the more memorable lines. I picked up the ones I liked.
Can't actually remember who said this originally, of course, because I have a memory like a sieve for names.
5.
PRETTY.

suzukiblu does request-memes fairly often. I think that's pretty cool. She usually has some minimal rules for how to make the requests. Usually, there are a couple of people who FAIL UTTERLY WITH READING DIRECTIONS.
They drive me crazy. I had to make an icon to vent.

I've seen that first one on a t-shirt.

I don't remember who first pointed out this joke to me. It was in real life, so it's safe to say it was a fellow female. One day I decided I wanted to make it into a userpic, so I Googled up an image and made this based on a photo I found. I also watermarked it, because I knew it'd be "borrowed," and I wanted to see how far it spread.
This is an illustration by Jon Neill from L. Frank Baum's The Tin Woodman of Oz. In the books the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman are bestest friends, and sometimes it comes across as more than that, as the Woodman can be very.... effusive. I personally liked the "bromance" angle, so I wrote a story in which it was a major factor. (More news to come on that, hopefully soon.) In this pic they are looking at a map carried by Woot the Wanderer, but I cropped the kid out.
This is from the DOOM comic (http://www.doomworld.com/10years/doomcomic/). Ahh, DOOM, the '90s game that revolutionized the FPS genre. I still have it installed on my computer. In '96 someone published a 16-page comic book based on it, and it was amazingly, hilariously bad. In fact, I'd guess that the writer had to have had his tongue in his cheek, especially when the Doom Guy falls in love with the BFG. I have a soft spot in my heart for classic DOOM, so I made an icon.
Some years ago a friend was doing a project which I would call an animated MST3K. I was one of the voice actors, and this was my character. Her name was "Blitter." I did some basic doodles and
Katamari Damacy! The King of All Cosmos may have acted light in the loafers, but his wife knows he's all man. I ripped the movies from the game and made this icon. It has also spread across the LJ-verse, and the proof I made it is the watermark across the king's sash, though you have to blow it up to about 300% to see it.
Ever notice that chopstick wrappers all have the same directions, with varying typos and degrees of blurriness on the images? I scanned the most messed-up chopstick wrapper I found and made this. I typed the directions myself, but the typos and font changes are exactly as they appear on the wrapper.

Back before Penance in Gen-X became the twins and Gen-X took a nose dive into the bad crack, I shipped Jono and Penance and stole this icon from
Back in the day, my friend and I were talking about DBZ. And the only character she liked was Piccolo, because Piccolo always had this scowl as if he knew in a meta-sense he was too damn cool for the show. As such, I love this icon because Piccolo once more knows he's too damn cool to be chibi. (And who doesn't love a Chibi Nappa?)
I squeed about everything in this fanart of Long Feng's life, but I loved baby Kuei getting advised by Long Feng. I personally like the overprotective Long Feng is a father to Kuei take. C'mon, Kuei is never going to be a good king. Made by Pux. ^_^
I stole this from you because yeah, I need a Iroh and Ozai icon in some way or form. *pets them*
I love Chi-Chi. ^^ The woman needed more screen/page time. Even if for my sole desire to see Chi-Chi/Piccolo.

1. I picked this one mostly because I think it's pretty. Mai looks good in her Kyoshi get up, and I like the jade-like background and composition. I also like her inscrutable but observant expression, very fitting for her.
2. I love Janice. This is my go-to silly/goofy icon.
3. The quote is how I feel when something I've made turns out more bizarre than I intended.
4. I use this fairly often. I like the pose and the colors, especially the ring of fire contrasted with the cool greens. I don't associate a particular mood with this one, but I think of it as a positive image, making light in the darkness (which is of course what he's doing in this scene).
5. I made this one as part of a project to create one icon for each episode of AtLA. I picked this screen cap for "The Library" because I tend to like shots of things reflected in eyes, and I also think it reflects how small and petty Wan Shi Tong thinks humans are. I haven't actually used it yet but I like it.
6. Poor, hapless Beaker, working for a mad scientist. I haven't used this one much, but it's definitely an "oh, crap" icon. I also like the way it's cropped and colored, so his hair is the brightest thing in it.

1) Came up in reference to Crazuko and Lanh. No idea where it came from, but it amused me, so I iconed it.
2) Found some fanart of Evil!Jasmine on Rule 34 and had to icon it. Hail, bitches.
3) ANIMORPHS. Yes, seriously, kids, you cut through that construction site. What's the worst that could happen!
4) June and Jayne would get along, I'm sure, and I still love you for making this.
5) A Rincon with Ichiro! She made this and some other Yujiro icons when I mentioned my fail at iconing that fanart.
6) Swiped from fandomwank after yet another unfunny feminism wank. I get a lot of mileage out of that icon and look forward to the day I can retire it.
