So... Xin Wan's life kind of sucks. Forget leaving Ba Sing Se, he's stuck in an area the size of what I imagine to be a small college campus for the rest of his life. No wonder he's suicidal in some of your fics. I remember you mentioning somewhere else that Xin Wan travels around with his deaf friend post-canon and they adopt a kid, so... what has changed, if you don't mind me asking?
By your second head-canon comment, I take it Long Feng thinks Xin Wan is too valuable to ever let go.
Thanks. This is cool. I love Xin Wan despite all better judgment, and I like getting to know more about him.
Long Feng things Xin Wan is too valuable and too dangerous. If Xi Wan isn't in his hands, he doesn't want Xin Wan in anybody's hands. Thus, if Long Feng had his way, the only way Xin Wan is leaving Ba Sing Se is feet-first.
What's changed? Well, nothing's changed from my history of Xin Wan since "Dollmaker" except the knowledge that he's the one who maimed Kajizu. But what changes in the story-world is the end of the war. The Dai Li still have uses for mindbending (getting guaranteed truthful answers to questions), but they don't need to brainwash people quite so much anywhere.
And Hyo-sir may not like Xin Wan, but he doesn't wish what Xin Wan goes through on his worst enemy.
