Spring Break, Log #1
Apr. 11th, 2006 06:38 pmWell, I am currently in a La Quinta Inn (Spanish for "next to Denny's", don'tcha know) in Longview, Texas. This town is about two hours from Dallas and doesn't appear to have a Wal-Mart that I can find. This makes me sad, as I have this pathological urge to check for Cybertron Soundwave.
It does, however, have a McDonald's, which is where I had dinner.
I've been on the road since at least 11:45 this morning and arrived here in Longview at about 6. I stopped here because I was getting seriously tired and kept running onto those ridgey areas just off the road that wake you up. Amazingly enough, once I got out of the car and got some food in me, I felt much livelier. Still, going to bed early tonight.
Texan highways have these amusing little signs that say "Left lane for passing only". As someone who my Dad taught to stay in the left lane and go at least seventy-five on the interstate, I ignored them. If I'd ducked into the right lane, I'd have ducking back out again soon to pass people. This is why I stay in the left lane; I can pick a speed I like and mostly stick to it.
Driving for hours on end is such a brain-numbing experience. Even the classic rock stations I kept tuning into couldn't make my brain move anything other than 'sluggishly' after two o'clock. Before that, there was some vague Transformer stuff floating around, mostly about Brawl and Swindle, though there was also a fair amount of Skywarp/Thundercracker/Reflector. Might even write some of it down sometime.
