Cold gets into your bones
Nov. 14th, 2006 02:59 pmAs you may have gathered from my earlier entry, I got to walk to my one class this morning in the middle of a cold downpour. I arrived to class dripping wet and continued to drip for the first part of the lecture. Of course, I had to shed my nice, warm coat because the surface of it doesn't soak up water. Thus it was drippy.
I take my notes on my laptop. I do not need to be dripping on the keyboard while I type.
Our campus does not seem to have been adequately designed for rainfall, so various sidewalks and streets are prone to flooding when it rains. Streets, not so much, but the sidewalk I use to get from the Union to the dining hall always ends up a couple of inches deep and stays that way for several hours.
And I always forget it does that until I'm in the middle of it.
I did not feel warm again today until I got off work, got back to my dorm, and was able to take my socks off. Brrrr.
Alas, this also means that I did not get over to the mailing supply place and investigate boxes for shipping Jetfire in. I should probably do that, but the large part of me just wants to go "bleh" and do it tomorrow when it's hopefully sunnier.
The most annoying part about mailing things is finding boxes.

Optimus, Honey...
Nov. 14th, 2006 05:18 pmNow, maybe I've been reading the wrong kinds of fics, but there seems to be a cliche going around that Optimus Prime sucks as a diplomatic leader and he's so unhappy and depressed about having the job of leading the Autobots again after his resurrection for Season Four of the G1 cartoon series. Rodimus was such a better diplomatic and so on and so forth.
I don't actually have much of a problem with this particular interpretation of Optimus's character, except that the writers always make him steadfastly trudge onward with the job. And angst about how he can't give it up as easily as his troops can.
Optimus, honey? I think you'd find that if you wanted to retire, most of your guys would be pretty sad, but they'd also feel that you more than deserved the break.
Go! Explore! Become a long-haul trucker! Get shipped to Europe and drive around the Old World! Go to Cybertron and make nice with your girlfriend!
Vacate, Optimus!
