Transformers: Prime

Verdict: I enjoyed the series, but I wasn't excited by it. The show goes back to a lot of the traditional Transformers tropes and draws heavily on the live-action movies for aesthetics and plottishness. After Animated, that's just not as much of a draw as it could be.

Also, I really miss greenhorn!Optimus. This Optimus Prime has his Drama Module turned up to eleven.

Good CGI, great fight scenes, good plot if a bit odd for Transformers, and they left plenty of room for the series to pick up and do stuff. So the technical stuff was handled competently.

Unfortunately, Prime is going to have the problem of being compared to Animated. Animated was an amazing Transformers cartoon, such that it has been held up there with Beast Wars as one of the two best Transformers cartoons ever made.

Prime does not measure up to Animated as it currently stands, and it's going to be hard to view it on its own merits initially.
