First of all, a note for "Autobot Run" that I missed last time. Chip stood up in his wheelchair to catch something. He stood up!
Gotta watch it, kid, you'll lose your worker's comp if you keep pulling stunts like that.
Now onto the more recent episodes....
"The Core"
- "The drill will shatter the Earth when it penetrates the core!"
Dude, your drill isn't that big. And it's spinning backwards.
However, if you need to forcibly stop drilling, just break the drill bit off at the top of the shaft!
- Chip performs better in his wheelchair than anyone else on the show.
- How do we stop the Decepticons from drilling to the center of the Earth? By freezing the diverted river's waterfall so that it stops providing energy for the process!
Next time, kids, just remove that dam so that the river goes back to its normal course.
Also, I hope someone set up a hydroelectric generator to that waterfall while the Decepticons were there. Sure, you may think the core has the most energy in the galaxy, but why not get some other stuff while you're there?
- Also, the core of the earth is the richest source of energy in the galaxy? Dude, what? You forgetting that big shiny thing in the sky?
And how do you expect to get much energy from the core? It's molten iron, so you'd have to put more energy into it than you'd get out to cause it to fuse or fission.
- The Constructicons were cool. They're good at their jobs. They turn into a giant robot. They got brainwashed by the Autobots, though apparently it doesn't work as efficiently if they don't remain in gestalt. At least, that's the explanation I got from the way they never stopped being Devastator while with the 'bots.
- *Starscream aims his rifle at the 'bots as they try to leave from a stealth mission.*
Megatron: "No, don't shoot them."
Starscream: "Traitor!"
Screamer, you do not have the cred to call Megatron a traitor. Not until you can put him up against the wall and shoot him should you ever try that again.
"The Insecticon Syndrome"
- Despite the fact that this happens every time someone tries to kill Hound, people are still fooled by his holograms.
I'm reminded of a scene in the Ramayana where people are sure Maya, Lord of Illusions, has fallen in battle. Thankfully, someone pointed out to them that dude, he's called the Lord of Illusions for a reason. Even a body isn't conclusive proof that he's dead.
- Insecticons, once more, make this episode fun. Maybe it's because they're effective, unlike just about everyone else in the show.
- Spike has an awesome action scene in this episode. Despite the fact that he's stupid enough to hang out with giant robots, I like the guy, and I'm glad to see him get to do something besides be taken hostage and go into stupidly dangerous situations.
- Oh, yes, two Autobots show up from nowhere in this episode: Beachcomber and Inferno. Spent half the episode wondering who the hell Beachcomber was until someone mentioned his name.
- I've read way too much badfic. Upon re-watching this episode, when the Insecticons went into Iron Mountain to retrieve Soundwave, I started thinking that this was a good lead-in to a slash fic.
- When needing to shoot the Insecticons with the cure to their Nova Power Cores, Prime's weapon of choice is... Megatron. (Although, in any given situation where I had the excuse, my weapon of choice would be Megatron, too.)
- There are some cool flying scenes with Soundwave in here. Very nice. See, they don't have to just extend their bodies while they fly!
- Bombshell has a magic reassembly gun. Why don't the Constructicons have access to this technology?
- I love it when Megatron and Optimus team up. They tend to be scarily effective when they work together. And Optimus shoots better when he has Megatron as a gun. Unfortunately, they don't have enough chemistry for slash.
