May Be Crazy
Jun. 9th, 2008 09:27 pmWell, for the first time in a considerable while, I started work on an original fiction piece that wasn't required for a class. It has heaping helpings of bracketed scene-scribbles where I put in the bare bones of what I want to happen so I can remember when I come back to fill in later and bracketed notes in semi-random places in the text file.
It also has one fully written-out part-of-a-scene that's somewhere in the region of upwards of eight hundred words. The fact that my hero apparently studied art in college makes me feel better about describing things. Mind you, it's still my usual bare bones description - you gets walls, floor, no ceiling, ugly murals, altar, corpse with sword in it on altar. Not much else.
Trying to write this scene after rereading the
gearworld blog makes me want to go walking more so I can look at old, abandoned things and examine what they look like when aged. I am sometimes peculiar.
Speaking of peculiarity, the story currently has everyone's names as bracketed Transformer names. Because I suck at naming people, and I'd rather write the scene than block myself for the entire night while I agonize over the perfect name for everyone.
According to my springkink calendar, I should have written something today for that. So I'm going to go take a shower and try to reset my brain from cosmic horror to something more likely to get today's entry written.
