Summary Fishing!
Jul. 11th, 2006 12:14 amThis game is where you go to FF.Net, pick a category, and look for summaries that make you wince on the first page. In celebration of having seen PotC2 on Saturday, I'm hitting up the Pirates of the Caribbean section.
---
I'm Harmony Sparrow, Savvy? - Will Turner needs Jack Sparrows help to rescue Elizabeth from pirates. But Mr. Gibbs informs him Jack is to swing soon, and the only one who can save him is Jack's little sister Harmony. This is a WillOC pairing
I'm going to quote
karma_aster's response from when I showed her this one...

[Ryuu] Oh my god, every Mary Sue alarm in the world is going off for that one.
[Ryuu] And it was the 18th Century! No one named their child Harmony back then!
[Ryuu] Can't you children research your cries for attention?
Will's Sister - Jack runs into this girl in Tortuge who ends up being Will's long lost thought to be dead, sister. It will get more interesting as it progresses i promise. I stink at summeries. Please R&R. Rated ' for mild language. And had no idea for a title so give me
It's a wonderful combination of all things horrible in summaries. It gives us the Sue warning right away, the "this story sucks" warning, the "I suck at summaries" warning, the rating warning, and the "untitled" warning, AND it hits the summary limit!
It's like a masterpiece of bad summary-craft.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The whole story - Captain Jack Sparrow and his sister Lily Sparrow embark on the classic journey. Basically the same story only with Lily along . R&R please! JackLiz, WillOC
Of course, it's hard for this to be the same story with an added OC when Jack gets the canon and Will gets the OC. But let's ignore that little detail for now.
Oh Bugger - A girl from 2006 gets transported back in time to Tortuga, and gets 'saved' by a certain excommodore. You thought that you had problems? All they ever seem to do is fight! To top it off, throw a horny and not to mention devious Jack Sparrow into the mix a
Hi-yah! Score! Not just a Sue, but a modern Sue! And she's going after Norrington! (Don't tell me she isn't, otherwise why would he be mentioned in the summary at all?)
---
Thank God, all the irritating summaries with DMC spoilers right in the summary have scrolled off the first page by now.
