The problem with wanting to explain one of my TFBlogs characters, with references to how he actually acts in-game, is that I have to go back into TFBlogs to dig up the specific threads. I'm keeping my eyes off the new stuff, but it still makes me sad - I had a lot of fun with that game. The LJ Nexus-based RP isn't anywhere near the same - it's way broken up, I can't keep track of it as easily (sorry, Boots and Basi, but your tendency to use your journals as both RP and RL journals is kind of annoying from a keeping-track perspective), and it's hard to tell who all is involved with the world-iteration that Pepper's Rodimus and Rath's Galvatron are from.

I'm mostly settled into TF2K5 these days, though it's got its own set of issues. I keep vacillating between whether or not I want to keep Blitzwing, but Reflector remains a doll and Silverbolt's quite a lot of fun over there. The new Shockwave's fun to play with, though there's a tiny part of me that wants to throw Willow at him.

I would like to find a good pre-Movie TF rpg again. I miss the Insecticons.

"Never assume malice for what stupidity can explain."

This occured to me tonight as an excellent summation of most of the TFBlogs drama I've been involved in for the last little while. It seems to be winding down now, fortunately, though I don't expect I'll ever be playing that game again.

This fact seems to make some people happy.

Still, it was a fun game while it lasted, and I got two good OCs out of it, as well as some good roleplaying time in on the Constructicons and Megatron. That really helped me get handles on their characters. Just the fact that I'm comfortable enough with him to attempt to write Megatron now is a benefit. I'm still not certain of how well I can write him, and God forbid I ever have to attempt an introspective piece. Getting inside his head on certain subjects is bloody hard.

TFBlogs was definitely a different roleplaying experience from my usual. All of my previous games were real-time, and so are the ones I'm currently playing. The Livejournal format did make it easier to control myriad characters and have them interact in various different scenes at the same chronological time, which was actually a very enjoyable experience. I like having alt-characters. On the other hand, the game-style could be rather frustrating when things slowed down.

The combat RP left something to be desired, but I gather this often the case when you're narrating everything. I'm rather fond of TF2K5's coded combat system - it puts in limits and guidelines for what you should be doing, but doesn't have to be used if you don't want to use it.

I'm not entirely sure if TFBlogs itself knows what it's over-all theme is, but I do personally know that it was the over-arching plot emerging when I first investigated the game that got me interested. I have a hard time keeping interest in the game without something to engage me - being silly for the sake of being silly is just as much an anathema to me as angsting for the sake of angsting.

Because of the nature of the game, we tended to play fast and loose with characterization. It didn't really bother me; that was the point of the game, after all. It did annoy me when people would pull things out of their afts, and the whole deal with Sixshot and Zephyr when they came to Earth got old real fast. I don't think I started getting seriously annoyed until they decided to start treating the Earth-Decepticons as enemies without ever considering that the Earth-Decepticons would probably go along with their plans without much argument. At the very least, why bother bluffing your way onto the Decepticon ship when you're respected members of the Decepticon military and can just ask for the information you want?

Some of the 'Bloggers could have used work on their attention to detail, but that's a problem in most roleplays. You just work with and around people who make little gaffs and correct the really big ones.

There are some issues and plotlines that I, personally, think should have gottten more in-character responses and reactions than they did. Dead End joining the Autobots, for instance. Canonically, there has never been a broken gestalt. Splitting across a major factional divide like this should have resulted in quite a bit of response from the other Stunticons. One of the things that irked me about Wildrider's conversation with Dead End in Maccadam's is that Wildrider was doing his best to smash Dead End's buttons, and Dead End just walked away from him without response.

Still and all, TFBlogs was an enjoyable game. I do not regret the year I spent playing it, and I hope I have as much fun on TF2K5 as I did on the 'blogs.

I have been asked to leave TFBlogs. If either HT or Raven wants any of my characters, drop me a line and I'll turn over the accounts. (This excludes cideways, domopolis, soldier_ant, and reflector_trio.) If you don't want the accounts, I'll pull my icons from them but leave the journals up.

The excluded journals will remain my roleplay journals for other Livejournal RPGs.

Dear TFBlogs,

The overwhelming urge I have to take two particular plotlines out back and bitch-slap them into submission is not entirely because of the ideas in and of themselves... The characters involved with them also piss me off.

Argdie,
'Becca

Also, someday I ought to put together an in-game timeline of events so I can explain things to my non-TFBlogging friends what the frell is going on at any given moment.
beckyh2112: (iCom)
Dear Starscream,

Please hurry up the staff meeting before someone gets bored and tries to perform a coup.

No love,
Reflector

The problem with the Decepticons right now... We're all half-scattered and unfocussed. Also, most of our players are either busy with real life or waiting on the people who are busy with real life.

In the meantime, human!Breakdown is all by himself in New Orleans. I think he should start a riot. Any suggestions from other folks as to what he can do to entertain himself?

Went and played violent computer games last night until I felt better. Then I cranked up the Metallica.

So, yay. Not quite drowning in silence anymore.

And I finally got back on track with one of my 28s. Sa'good.

I ought to go catch up with TFBlogs right now, see if I'm supposed to actually do anything.

Refence to this thread here for those of you who care.

1) Why in the Nine Flaming Hells of Baatezu would Shockwave know that Seether is actually the Fallen, much less have it in his notes? And why hasn't he shared it with anyone else?

2) Also, the other person who is playing Unicronians in this RPG would have appreciated knowing that Seether and the Fallen are the same person, as I have a post referring to two now-defunct ideas about the Fallen. Namely, that he is not Seether, and that he is trapped in the Underverse.

3) Sixshot, Zephyr, what is your phobia of telling 'Polis what's going on? Do you think she might tell you to "suffer, bitches" when she finds out what's going on?

On the other hand, if I did know what was going on in-game, I'd have that excuse to blow up the Nemesis that I've been looking for out-of-game.

Also, gee, Sixshot, if you have problems with the way the Decepticons are currently being run, why don't you do something about it? Oh, wait, you wandered off and set up your own base and ignored what the rest of the Decepticon players were getting up to in order to further an increasingly silly-looking plot.

4) Seether, 'Polis still wants to hunt you down and devour you. You being the Fallen isn't going to change that.

Also, Inferno was following Seether as best he could. He's going to be annoyed by all these shenanigans, too.

5) Oh, and if 'Polis finds out Klank's been keeping the Matrix from her, he's going on her shit-list, too.

And one S2 note.

- Megatron is definitely the alpha male of the Decepticons. Oddly enough, though, most of the Seekers seem to treat Blitzwing and Astrotrain as the beta males.

- Blitzwing grew up sometime between "Triple Takeover" and "Five Faces of Darkness". He realized that there were more important things in the galaxy than Autobots vs. Decepticons. He also made the choice not to be an Autobot; if he was going to be on either side, he was going to be a Decepticon.

Also, note that Galvatron exiled him for stopping Galvatron and Rodimus from fighting after Spike turns everyone back on. Not for going to the Autobots for help. Blitzwing also takes his exile with head held high.

- Cyclonus is deeply (crazy-)loyal to Galvatron. Cyclonus also cares about Scourge.

I'm still not sure if Galvatron cares about Cyclonus. He certainly doesn't seem to care about Scourge.

- Galvatron is way, way less tolerant of take-over attempts that Megatron ever was. Considering as the worst we've ever seen Megatron do to Starscream was drop him on an asteroid for a while, I have no idea where people get the idea that Megatron wants to hurt Starscream enough to write the "spousal abuse"-type fics. The dynamic those two have is definitely not that dynamic.

---

And now for a bit of TFBlogs dialogue that may or may not ever get used.

"You can change his mind, you know."

"Hnh?"

"In Chaos, all probabilities are equal. Simply choose the one where Whirl is loyal to your cause and apply it to him. It is within your power to do so."

Round-Up

beckyh2112: (Science!!!)
Well, this last week has been the special sort of fun that I like to refer to as "not enough sleep, too much to do". I had a major history test today worth a third of my grave grade in the class, so I spent this last week plowing through the outside reading book we had, as well as the textbook. This was not fun, despite the topic being interesting. (The election of 1800 was gloriously whack, y'all. Seriously.)

Why was it not fun? Because I prefer to study in my dorm room. My room, however, has a broken air-conditioner. It does not go higher than 60 degrees. Unless the heater is on, and then it will go up to 70 degrees. So, when we have, oh, a cold snap, then it is an evil arctic place of death. This makes it hard for me to concentrate on anything but getting another cup of hot chocolate and huddling under the blankets.

At no point was my studying enhanced by requirements to eat, sleep, shower, go to work, and go to other classes. Nor was it enhanced by me having two Biology quizzes this week.

Wednesday was hell night. I had to edit three short stories for Thursday morning, take a Biology quiz before midnight, eat dinner, shower, get at least seven hours of sleep so I would be semi-coherent, and finish the book for History class. This was not fun, despite the sheer WTFery that went into Thomas Jefferson getting elected. Not even the midget assassin in one of the short stories could make it fun.

This is sad, because midget assassins should be able to make anything fun.

Despite it all, I think I did well on the test. I also got in quite a bit of roleplaying (don't start, just shut your mouths right now), which helped keep me from snapping. Roleplaying vicious, nigh-on unkillable megalomaniacs and sneaky, smooth-talking thralls of Unicron really get rid of the ol' aggressive urges.

My brain has decided to focus on TFBlogs at the moment, though, and the Seeker Quest plotline in particular. So, 'Bloggers, Sideways says to listen to "Afterglow" by The Mission U.K. for his point-of-view on Fahrenheight, and to listen to "The Game" by Disturbed for what he thinks is Fahrenheight's pov on him.

Story summary in my head for something I want to write... "Jackpot meets a girl even luckier than he is. Her name? Teela Brown."

ETA: Random Armada commentary.

Rad, as narrator: "That night, there was a huge starshower over the Autobot base, as if the entire universe was mourning Optimus."

Or, like, Optimus's bits were burning up as they enter the atmosphere.
beckyh2112: (Time)
ETA: Explanations for rune choices, yay.

Blathering mostly for the benefit of Shiri and HT, as it relates to the Seeker Quest on the 'Blogs. The gates of endurance not only provided the standard changes to Blitzwing, but they gave him or re-awoke in him the knowledge of the Quintesson Rune.

Here is a very good overview on Gloranthan runes, and here is a briefer overview that I'm also drawing from. A rune is a thing, a being, and an abstract idea - possessing it indicates an intimate knowledge of it and what it symbolizes. By possessing the rune, you possess its powers and know how to wield them. (DE, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Blitzwing, under normal circumstances, would have the Motion, Man, Air, and Death runes. The addition of the Quintesson rune would bring him up to five and cause some interesting changes in him. For now, the most notable is the fact that his optics have shut-down. What's not so noticeable is that he's tapping into Quintesson-ness, which is currently limited to knowledge of the runes. He's still adjusting, after all.

For more reference, here are the weapon associations for the elemental runes:
mace/sling - darkness rune
axe - earth rune
spear/bow - sky/fire rune
sword - air rune
whip/trident - water rune
scimitar - lunar rune

Watched the first four episodes of House last night. Excellent, excellent show, and House is so my new tv boyfriend. (Blitzwing still has a special place in my heart, but he's violent and insane rather than snarky and impatient with stupid people.) I've got four more episodes to watch before I have to return the DVD. Good, good times.

However, since my brain inevitably revolves around Transformers, I found myself daydreaming about medical thrillers involving Transformers before I fell asleep. The problem wasn't mere battle damage to be repaired, no, or even the imbibing of various poisonous chemicals. No, instead both Autobots and Decepticons were afflicted with a virus, slowly breaking down their code.

Since I couldn't think of how the hell who got it got infected, there was a minor subplot over what the infection vector was. We did practice quarantine procedures by not allowing the infected to interface with anything, up to and including providing us with direct readings from their damage control computers. (Which annoyed the medical team, since that could have given them a pile of data, but they did understand that getting infected themselves would be bad.)

The 'we' I keep using would be our allied medical team: Ratchet, Klank, Wheeljack, and Heretic. (Lord alone knows why the Constructicons aren't involved in this, or why I dragged someone else's OC in.) Support staff includes Soundwave and Blaster as data-analyzers.

To be fair to Heretic and the canons, her job is mostly to keep Ratchet and Klank from killing each other and to smooth along the process of developing a counter-virus.

Fell asleep before I could find out how everything ended. Made me very sad.

Analyzing it the next day, I do like the quarantine methods I devised. However, the virus still bugs me. On the one hand, if a virus has an 'incubation' period, it's conceivable that it could spread pretty fast, especially if the first victim is someone who has to transfer a lot of data on and off of himself. On the other hand, to a Transformer, a virus is pretty definitely an outside attack. How could both sides get infected with the same virus as approximately the same time?

Besides an enemy of both sides, I mean.
beckyh2112: (Bitch please (unknown))
Because it's my journal and I can whine if I want to.

Warning: I am bleeding copiously from my crotch. This is affecting my judgement in regards as to whether or not anything is a personal attack. It is also making me extremely angry. Deal with it.

So, I play the Constructicons on [livejournal.com profile] tfblogs. Because I'm a crazy little bitch who likes trying to write six different people who share the same user account. My characterization probably sucks, too, but what the hell.

Anyways, the Constructicons. Who are kind of bored without Megatron around to tell them to build silly weapons. So, they've been building people, repairing people, repairing the ship, and otherwise keeping themselves occupied. Once they even got to go off and attack the Ark.

All fine and dandy, right?

What I'd like to know is why in the Nine Hells of Baatezu, most of the Decepticons want to avoid Hook when they need repairs?! I'm not playing him as a sadist, though I'd be more than happy to if that's what they want! I've been playing him as aiding and abetting Scrapper and being the straight man in some of the gags with the Constructis... So why avoid him? I can get avoiding Scrapper, but Hook? Especially when you're broken six ways from Sunday because you decided to tangle with a whole bunch of Autobots after escaping from Ratchet?!

So, yeah, not getting that. At all.

Note: This next little bit is from an IC point-of-view.

And then there's the new Decepticon medic showing up. Okay, fine, he's for whatever plot Shockwave is working on. And apparently Shockwave, ICly, doesn't feel he can trust the Constructicons. (Hint: Don't give a massively skilled architect plans for how to build something cinchy. Just tell him what you want it to do and let him design the thing his own damn self.)

But, wow, is the shit ever going to hit the fan when Hook runs into this guy. 'Cause, hey, getting replaced as the major Decepticon repair specialist on Earth? Not going to thrill him. Was Shockwave thinking at all when he let Klank just announce himself to God and everybody?

Hands up, everyone who wants the Constructicons turning passive-aggressive against the rest of the 'cons, while they otherwise work on making their unhappiness known to the world at large?

The mess that's going to result from this might be enough for me to bring Megatron back from the back of beyond. Because it looks like it'll be a while before he can run into Jinx, and I can royally mess with him for fun and whackiness.

I would like to disclaim that as the player, I rather like Klank. However, Hook doesn't. Scrapper is not going to. Mixmaster is not going to. Long Haul is not going to. Bonecrusher is not going to. Scavenger is going to be pressured into not liking him.

Megatron, Reflector, and Oikodomopolis don't really care right now. And I need to decide if I'm going to do anything with Blitzwing or just toss him at the mods and say, "Catch."

Work, Blah

Schedule for this week: Thursday and Friday off. Whoo!

I hate working Fridays/Saturdays. That's our busiest time, and, unlike the carhops, I don't get tips.

Have made some writing progress, fortunately for my sanity. Got a one-shot Beast Wars fic in the editting stages, am working on a G1-era Transformers fic with an OC cast, and have an idea for a bishonen!Soundwave fic.

Do not ask about Bishwave. I am not explaining it until I have it written down.

Oh, and I got involved with the [livejournal.com profile] tfblogs insanity. I'm playing Megatron and the Constructicons. May pick up Reflector. (Speaking of Reflector, there's a germ of a fic idea for him, too. No idea how I'm going to render that particular idea as an interesting story, though.)
