Wherein Becca hides in the back with the computer and annoys her relatives by being non-sociable. Fortunately, we're still just cooking dinner and haven't had the ravenous hordes descend on us to feed.

Records of the trip up can be found on [livejournal.com profile] dragoness_e's journal.

My dad, on picking up my laptop case to put in the trunk: "Let me guess, you're a gold courier."

Construction equipment is not national park wildlife to be spotted.

It's highway wildlife.

Crack dream of crackiness that shows I've been listening to way too much Heather Alexander lately:

Human!Elita-1 singing while human!Soundwave fiddles and human!Rumble mans the drums. Human!Frenzy and Daniel occupy the background someplace.

Unfortunate rumors springing up in this rather backwards place because of Elita's bright, unnatural pink hair (and Rumble and Frenzy's unnatural colors as well):

Soundwave is a mortal musician who seduced a faery maiden and got her in the family way with twins. Daniel is a human child she stole.

Soundwave's commentary on this: "Rumours, improbable."

It's one of my character details that Elita-1 is no great beauty by Transformer standards. She's nice-looking and all, but she also likes to wear death colors and that really turns a guy off. She's also light on the kibble in robot-mode.

However, both she and her pre-Elita form, Ariel, have beautiful singing voices. That's what first made Orion Pax pick that goth-girl out of the crowd. But Elita-1 doesn't sing much anymore.

Pink!

Some people are just ever so unhappy about being turned human.

So...

The quote I assigned to Elita when I seriously started characterizing her for the first time was one I lifted from Discworld. It was one of Carrot's lines, actually, when Carrot was being scary.

I figured I ought to share it.

"Personal isn't the same as important."

Ano?

Y'know, I thought the name of the comm was [livejournal.com profile] 100x100_brushes. As in the size of LJ icons, since the primary focus of the community is icon-sized brushes. So why are some of the image packs I'm downloading full of much larger than 100x100 brushes?* I mean, one of those was 600x235.

You know what really riled me up, though? Those of you making huge brushes couldn't be bothered to crop out the extraneous white space. When I'm in my converting-imagepacks groove, I just like to go from one image to the next and make it into a brush without having to add extra steps. Grrg.

On the upside, I have some lovely new brushes and gradients, whee! Now I just need a nice high-quality of cap of Optimus and Elita at the end of "The Search for Alpha Trion". (There's a specific one I'm looking for, which will have to wait until I get back to my DVDs to grab. The screenshot on Seibertron.com doesn't work for me.)

*This is allowable by community rules, actually. I'm just grumpy.

Yeah, so watching Armada these days. Though I do plan to pick up Transformers: The Movie, so the family can finish up G1. Getting stuck in a roleplay with three Rodimii is a bit weird when you've never seen Season Three.

On the other hand, DeviantArt has gifted me with Elita Prime. All is strangely well with the world.

In the news of the real world, I got honked at again today. There's a small lake out back of the dorms in this part of campus, and it has water fowl in it - ducks, egrets, geese. There's three particular grey geese who come up to the parking lot some afternoons and aggressively honk at passerby. "Feed us! Feed us! Where's the food, wench?"

The last part may be trauma left over from my early years, when I was goose-high and ran out of bread for them.

On a random note, the heterosexual erotica in the campus bookstore is in the Fiction section, while the gay/lesbian erotica is in the Gay/Lesbian Studies section. (Gay/Lesbian Studies is right next to the magazines, too.)

Out front of the library where I work, there's quite a few bike racks. Since the library is in the quad and thus handy to most every class, it makes sense that people leave their bikes there during the day. Why drag it around when you don't have to?

Apparently, there aren't enough bike racks, however, as every day, I see bikes tied to the mulberry trees planted out front of the library. Such a strange fruit to grow.
